Bb'ers, do you go light or heavy?

As you can see from reading the posts in this thread, there are differing views/beliefs as to what is the best way. It also depends on what level of size and thickness you want to achieve.

I am going to use a couple of pics I saw used in a similar arguement on another site. Here are two very good competitors who train differently. Tell me which one you think lifts as much heavy iron as possible and which one goes lighter (more traditional BB'er style routine). Then, ask yourself which one you'd rather look like.

Sorry guys, I didn't answer yet because I thought it was obvious. You are right, the guy on the right lifts heavy. These pics are from the 2005 Minnesota State Championships. The guy on the left has a very good build too. Both have great physiques (better than 99% of this board probably), but the guy on the right throws around as much heavy slag iron as possible.

Most of the Pro's you see lifting light are either doing it for a video/photo shoot, or may be pre-contest, or just might be the way they're training now. Keep in mind you are talking about the genetic elite too! Some of those guys can get huge just mowing the lawn and taking out the trash. Also, almost every one of them built their base by lifting heavy on basic compound movements. They may not do them much any more, or lift as heavy...but they've already built a solid foundation. They are already 260 lbs at 5'10" and 4% bodyfat on stage! They're 300 lbs in the offseason! They got there doing heavy deads and squats, and eating BIG.

Wolf among others got where they are now by lifting heavy. Actually Wolf trashed a quad earlier and now he checks is ego at the gym door.
