A lot of people who've never had to spend time in one seem to be fascinated with them. Pretty common interest for some reason.

I watch Lockup often.

It never ceases to amaze me how inmates in long term facilities still do stupid shit to even make their lives even more fucked up.

They get locked down in isolation for months and a few weeks later they repeat the same bullshit offense.

From that show, it seems that most eventually get it that they won't defeat the system.

What the fuck? Why the fuck are all you guys getting thrown into prison? I thought this was a workout website? I'm totally blown away. But I guess I have just been lucky to not have been caught. Do you guys feel like you deserved to be in prison? Did you consistently do illegal shit or was it unlucky? Good lord.

It might have been a bullshit charge, I was charged with an F2 for giving a black eye and bloody nose from one punch is a bar fight, an F2 is 5+ years in prison and I made an Alford plea to an F4 aggravated assault to avoid trial. However, I've been in a lot of bar fights that resulted in nothing more than an ejection or perma ban. In the army it was an accepted behavior...you perform some extra duty and it isn't just forgiven but aggressive behavior is encouraged. :)

Holy crap man. I know it's usually minor, but even that one that went wrong... does that make you think twice before punching a dude out again? Even if you know you can? I would think it has to?

yeah i've hulu'ed or tele viewed all the lockups and the raw lockups.
and i've seen all the other prison shows that you proly have...i always imagine myself in that position and how i'd react...i've been known to cruise the DOC inmate locator for peeps i read about...one kid i looked up was 16 when he went to prison for life w/no parole.
imagine going thru puberty in prison with no chance of leaving ever fug me :(

Those prepackaged plea "deals" suck ass. They are never lenient. You know prosecutors come on like they're doing you a favor when it's just designed to make things easier for them and the Court.

What I found interesting was how educated many inmates become after years of incarceration. When I was in "reception" a max security lockdown for 23 hours a day... my cell mate had been in and out of prisons since a teen and he had a tremendous grasp of history and science. I actually enjoyed our conversations but when he claimed he was a career criminal...and had been locked up for more years than he was free as an adult...I suggested he give up crime because he sucked at it.

and it definetly makes things go smoother in the courtroom, imagine if every knucklehead took every case to trial.
clogged up...
