How do guys in jail get buff?

No shit huh????is that state or county????I was in bellerica for 6 mths. then walpole for a while and i got to say....food wise, state has better food and i heard federal has even better food but idk.....belerica....effin shit hole and overcrouded like you read about...

Nah. This was a Federal prison summer camp. Food friggin sucked ass worst than county.

County was heaven where I was. Served double portions. got fat quick.

a lot of dark meat chicken legs that were frozen for 2 decades. Fish tilapia that was shit. Turkey that tasted like ass.

some guys were sneaking off at night to hit the local grocery store. No fence or guards around a camp.

One guy was making beer. Got drunk and partied every night. It was awesome.

The federal probation was the real sentence.

What if eating 2g of protein per lbs was the biggest scam on earth ?

It is. In the jail I was in there was no protein powder available, but the food was decent. Definitely at least 30g of protein per meal, plenty of veggies.

The hands down #1 exercise was push ups in the cell. Guys talk about doing a 1,000 pushups like we might talk about benching 225 on here. Every single day.

Being in jail made me change my mind about hypertrophy. I think it's all about increasing the capacity for work by doing lots and lots of sets.

These guys were just jacked, shredded, and there were no weights. A pull up bar, a dip bar, a half basketball court, and staying up all night doing push ups.

Oh they did dips too.

I don't know how many other guys did this but we each got a giant bag for all our stuff, I'd put all my library books in there and do curls with it.

How much time did you do?

What kind of a facility?

I was in a temporary lockup type facility for three days, then five days. It's the type of place you spend a few days before going upcounty, upstate, or up country (jail, prison, federal prison respectively).

The last time I was in long enough to go up county and I did a total of 27 days in there, maybe like 20 of em in the real county jail.

So I can only talk about jail, which is what this thread is about. Not prison.

Also jail is a county thing, prison is state level. So there are as many different jail systems as there are counties. Different food, different rules, different commissary selections. I can only talk about this jail I was in, which from the accounts of the guys who had a lot more experience than I, was one of the nicest in the country and the nicest in the state.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I worked on a project for a few months at Angola State Peniterary which is a notorious shithole.

I entered many parts of the facility, but never seen any weight equipment. I even entered Camp J which was the 23 hour lock down unit. That's where I picked up lunch for my crews. The first day I picked up lunch I met a very large blaque dude in a corridor. I was shitting on myself as I didn't see a guard in sight. As soon as he handed me the lunches I looked up in the towers and every guard had him in their sights.

They keep the inmates pretty busy as the prison is a working, viable farm. After a full day in the Louisiana sun farming I'm not sure how energetic you would be for weight training.

No way to say this without it coming out racist, but if you're Caucasian at Angola you're life is going to especially suck due to the demographics.

It was an eerie feeling driving through the gates every morning knowing many would never leave that place.

or federal.

Definitely a huge difference amongst county jails. I was in Cobb County Detention (Metro Atl) for about two weeks then Carswell Federal for 12 months. Cobb was nicer all the way around, but a lot of the women in my building at Carswell howled about how nice it was compared to their various county lockups.

wow, 2 dui's java? never figured you for a lush (like me)

I had one DUI charge but $10G later it was a "consumption of alcohol by minor" (I went through a road block) aka safety check.

Now I only drive drunk during the day (just kidding you MADD mofos)

Regardless of your grub in prison, if you haven't lifted/workout prior, you're gettin' jacked.

Fat people lose weight/gain muscle in prison, cuz they gotta.

Matttheskywalker helped me out with some legal advice via phone, btw.....dude gave some good advice :)

My drinking was all about womanizing...first DUI was at age 21..pulled over in Upper Arlington Ohio for going 48 in a 45 while not signaling a lane change...while taking the stripper I was banging home at 2:00 AM on a Saturday. The second was after my divorce about seven years later...after a night of womanizing.

What the fuck? Why the fuck are all you guys getting thrown into prison? I thought this was a workout website? I'm totally blown away. But I guess I have just been lucky to not have been caught. Do you guys feel like you deserved to be in prison? Did you consistently do illegal shit or was it unlucky? Good lord.
