A private practice with at least 2 but maybe 3 other guys. Its obviously going to take some time to get everything set up, and we would have to get on board with a RIA firm (which should be easy), but we've decided were going to put this bidness into motion.

Hopefully we wont starve. I could pretty much assure that I could take 1/3 to 1/2 of my book of business with me, and the other folks are in a similar position.

In the back of my mind I think the main reason Im doing this is because I just want to have business cards that say 75th & Associates.

Dont be surprised if I start hitting you guys up for food money in the near future.

I would take into considering the current market meltdown. IMO the bottom has yet to hit and considering what could happen in November I would wait and see what unfolds before diving in. I know you can see the big picture. Hell, banks are failing, and that only happens every few decades (yet not on the scale we are witnessing). In the meantime I would lay out all of the groundwork and set up a solid plan so when you decide to go ahead with this you are fully prepared.

IMO in the long run you really can't lose if you have a well prepared plan.

i only know your e persona and it is very impressive. you sound like a smart
levelheaded man.

in '93 i was the GM for a very large fundraising firm. six figure sal + perks
out the wazoo. i realized that i knew the business better than the CEO and i
was much better with peeps. i could have remained fat and happy but that
just aint me! i broke off and started my own company and i surpassed my
salary within 18 months. 15 years later and i can tell you, there's nothing
like having you own biz. the pluses are too numerous to even begin here.

those who have *stories* of why they weren't successful:

Indeed. What we are putting in motion now is going to take at the very least a few months if not a year to fully complete. The four of us are crazy, but not stupid...were going to take our time to make sure we do it right.
