Danes are awesome!!! I've owned three and they are great, now I only have one, he's 6 and survived bloat, great dog, much better than my others (pug and frenchy)

Awww, I lost a 2 year old dog to bloat. I realized a little too late for the emergency vet to do anything about it.

Awww, I lost a 2 year old dog to bloat. I realized a little too late for the emergency vet to do anything about it.

It's hard to notice, hubby and I were maniacs with our dane, we'd "soak" his food so it would expand outside and not inside his body, we fed him in a high area and we didnt let him play 1h2 before or after meals and he STILL got it.... we noticed something was wrong when he didnt come to our call, he kept looking at the ground as if he were hypnotized and his rib cage was a bit inflated, we took him immediately to the vet and that's why he made it, it hadnt been 20 min since it started when we figured it out...

I don't feel like starting a new dog thread for this...

So anyways, I dropped my dog off at "camp" this morning, she's just staying for the day. It's the same place I'm keeping her while I go on vacation for a week in August, so I'm bringing her once this week and once next to get her used to it. And I keep checking on her via webcam, and my dog is laying alone in the corner as far as possible from all the other dogs and not moving/playing.

Poor scaredy-dog.
