At least half of every zombie movie ever made has that same premise.
they all fall in the same category, to me, anyway. Not worth arguing about regardless.

I thought Shaun of the Dead was a great parody of the genre.
Never been into Resident Evil flicks, but I should probably check out the 2nd and 3rd judging from what people have said.
The original Dawn of the Dead was way better than the remake in my opinion. Tom Savini knew his stuff. Nobody could make a head explode better or show you some really gross crap that looked real. Plus I have always been more of a fan of slow zombies than the running ones.

Read the book. The book is so fucking bad ass. Once you read it, you will understand why it is simply not possible to bring it to the big screen.
