Yesterday I got into a disastrous car accident

I'm still feeling real messed up right now. car is completely totaled.....

I ended up getting a concussion, my knee is so screwed up I can barely walk. And my hands all f$%^ed up.

Here's what happened.

I was going over to a buddies house yesterday. He's in the army and just got home for the holidays. I was going past downtown like i've done 1000 times.
I went 32, road the brake, and approached a light that was green for a good 5 seconds already.

Some ghetto lady comes flying from my left, speeding, going probably 50 through a red light. Since the corner is so hard to see, i don't have basically any time to stop my car. I slam on my brakes as quickly as possible. since i braked so quickly and she slams right into my drivers side. my car spins, so does hers.
I put my hands on the wheel and my feet on the ground and try to use force so my head doesn't hit anything anymore.
She spins and hits my car again on the drivers side then my car flies forward into a pole. Air bags pop open and burn me.

I knew I had a concussion. I feel dizzy, I blacked out a second. I slam against the door since the cars smoking and leaking shit and fall out. I'm stumbling....

I stumble over to the lady (who car seems to be fine, and she seems to be fine).
I ask her, "are you alright miss?" (while i'm barely able to walk mind you). she gives me a dirty look and says yes. doesn't ask how i'm doing.

Then I ask her, "why did you run a red light like that?" She replied, "I don't know, I must of blacked out or something". you have to be kidding me......

She knew she did it, and I wonder if she was on the phone when she was driving....

Then I ask her if she has insurance, she gives me another dirty look and says "yes i have insurance". Doesn't say another word to me.....

A lady comes to me and lets me use her phone so I call my dad up (his phone was dead). I limp over and sit down. They try to get me to go in an ambulance many times but I keep objecting (since I was so disoriented I was worried that she might not have insurance)

I go to the hospital. They do some tests. Catscan of the head. X-rays on my knee and neck and back.

Nothing is broke or any internal bleeding. I've got a concussion and i doubt i'll be able to lift, run, or do any of that shit for a long time.

They said some cartilage might be fucked up in my knee, but they have to wait and see.

I feel like shit robs.......

You know what, i'm through being a nice dude. Even after almost fucking die I still ask the lady who couldn't give a fuck if i was dead if her and her kid were alright. That pissed me off so much how she treated me nasty.

I'm having trouble thinking straight. Don't be surprised if my writing sucks or if I start typing like strongmo.

Odd thing, the same exact car. my mercury cougar was basically totaled last year at december 18, 2009. at december 18, 2010 some person hits me again in the same car and totals it.

musclemom, does this day mean anything?

I keep telling myself i'm lucky to be alive.

I'm waiting for something good to happen to me someday......

Sounds like you got out without anything serious man. You just sound emotional at this point. It will subside and hopefully you walk away with no real lasting negative effects. AS you get older it is easy to become more jaded and have hatred for people and society. Things like this just act as a catalyst for these things.
 
Sue for every damn penny you can get, massages twice a week for the next year, ect...ect...ect. Get the best local accident claims lawyer you have and cash in.
 
i was supposed to be totaled last time but they decided to fix it. car was worth 6800 bucks last year and cost them around 7200 to fix it. i think the engine fell off of the car this time. no way it's getting fixed.

lololol. i've never even taken any type of pain meds in my life.
doc told me to take ibuprofen for the concussion, burnt and messed up hand, and screwed up knee.

My b mitch. She hit the front left of my car and I spun around. Then she hit the drivers side the second time she hit me. Then I hit the pole. There's a huge dent on the drivers side but you can't really see it from this angle.
 
glad you're alright iggs...and you're lucky you don't have a skull fracture ...I've done a cpl dzn accidents like yours and peeps usually have these faint fractures from hitting the b post (belt and front bags don't help you avoid it)


like everyone else says...lawyer up..but I'd be willing to bet the skank only has 20/40 insurance and you'll use up half of that in car/bills
don't talk to her insurance company in the meantime besides to flip out on them

I'm so sorry to hear this Igg, I know how much this kinda thing sucks and specially so close to the holidays,m really glad you are ok.
 
I was rear ended in my STS in June by a Range Rover. It destroyed my 09 Cadillac.

He rear ended me at 60 mph.. He had no insurance and no license. My insurance company paid for everything. They should have locked him up. The Trooper wrote him a ticket. I was transported to the ER.
 
wow! Iggy glad you weren't hurt more,Talk to a lawyer,I was in a wreck and i can tell you injuries from an accident will show up later,it's better to cover yourself.esp when someone else is at fault!

yeah man. it's sad too. i squatted 455x3 easy on friday. was really making some great gains. don't know if i'll ever be able to squat like that again.
hopefully it gets better over time....

Glad ur okay but make dman sure that you're head is okay. So you don't find out nastiness later.

Isnt it amazing that hte person who runs the red light and does the t-boning is always okay. If only she went through 1 second earlier, you'd be t-boning her. Thank god I drive a big truck - I don't trust drivers, epsecially drunks, women & asian.

Pretend I'm hugging you, dear, very gently. Even under the best of circumstances (and really, all things considered, it sounds like the results could have been much worse) a wicked car accident can leave you feeling like you've been hit by a train for a week.

You need to see a neurologist and an orthopedist, ASAP. Seriously. Concussions are nothing to fuck with, added bonus, they'll write you a decent script for muscle relaxants. You also need to start creating a file of everything. If the knee injury (or god forbid, the head injury) turns into a life long thing, you need a file from the get go that shows you were all over it medically.

Tylenol sucks and it fucks with your liver, take Advil for now.

Emergency room doctors are generally useless. Go to your family physician. If you don't have one of those then go to your father's physician to get referrals/recommendations.

I don't have insurance until january 1st. should I wait or what?
 
Reading this reminded me of a small accident I had several years back. I as behind this lady in the merge lane. I watch her go out, and stupidly I lokked back at ghe traffic as I pulled out. She was stopped in the merge lane for no reason. Yes, still my fault for not looking forward. Lesson learned.

Anyway, I probably hit her going 10 mph. No damage on either car, except for her tail lights already being broken on her piece of shit car. I get out and ask her if she and her son were ok, and she said yes. As soon as the fire/police got there, she starts her fucking niggerdom and saying her neck hurts and her son's leg is hurting. The police pulled me aside, and I asked if I should worry about her being a bitch. They said don't worry about it and gave me the kind of looked that said, "fucking ngrs."

Alabama may not be good for much, but at least whitey's got your back down here.

You got pussy cops. In my city they'd give her a DUI test and haul her in for reckless driving and suspend her license for running a red light. Then she'd get a $3,000 fine, expensive classes (which makes the gubment more money) and 1 year suspension. That'd hurt way more than some $2,000 lawsuit.

I wouldn't, makes it look like you're not in much pain.

Have you been in contact with your own auto insurance company? The way this works is (usually) you forward all bills to them (doctors, rental cars) and then THEY chase the other guy's insurance company down.

You tell the doctor's office that the injuries are a result of a motor vehicle accident and you'll need a bill, then you forward the bill to your insurance company.

Speak to your insurance company and confirm everything but if you check your auto policy it's all there. Explain that you currently don't have health insurance but you are in a great deal of pain, suffered a closed head trauma have severe back and neck pain and there's something really wrong with your leg.

Make sure you demand a rental car from her insurance company. Make them deliver it too. Today.

ok..heres the deal...I've been in two accidents where i was the driver and not at fault ..and the first time the insurance company (theirs) was right on top of shit and covered everything with my car immediately and fairly..i had zero, none nada for injuries
I didn't lawyer up

second time it took about two days for the pain to get really excruciating and i saought treatment on the second day..the insurance company turned out to be real effin douches and had already started dicking me around..i lawyered up

good thing too because on their advice I went to an ortho when nothing was improving w/ my neck and back
I didn't even notice the neuro deficit in my left arm by that point and it wasn't picked up on until I failed about 5 different tests miserably ..after a course of steroids..they found a very herniated disc with total nerve impingement/intrusion

6 months later my fingers go numb and my back is constantly on fire

get yourself started with a good dr and it sounds like someone insurance is being a bitch..fuck them..its what you pay insurance for
most drs will treat you with nothing up front if it was from a motor vehicle injury where you werent at fault andf have the claim numbers...theyll bill the insurance..but then they can access your medical records

I'm sorry to hear you had 2 crashes in a year... That's way more than anyone's fair share. I hope you get the injuries healed up fast.

Forgive me in advance for being judgemental, but I hope you're kidding. It's this mentality that put our country in the shape it's in. Cashing in on anything is wrong, and the karma will bite sooner or later. If the person at fault makes it right, and that doesn't mean paying thousands over & above the costs of medical and car repairs/replacement, there's no cause to sue. I could get off even farther on a political rant, but I'll refrain since the focus of this thread is in support of Iggy's health & wellbeing.

As long as you are ok health wise and you get a new car (since yours was totaled) I don't see why milk this further, I dislike people who sue over everything just to make a quick buck out of others....

not much besides my head and my knee. the one knee hurts a bit but it isn't horrible or anything. the other knee i can't even walk on. yeah, my head hurts, but thats obvious since i had a concussion. right hand is numb but the nurse said its probably cause of the burn mark.

i'd probably only go after her if my knee is never going to be the same. but i don't want her driving after seeing her speed through a red light in a major intersection with cars all around with a kid in the car.

Jeez, your company sucks then. Any decent insurance company would have you in a rental car first, and then figure out who's gonna pay for it -- her company or yours. If she's uninsured then your uninsured motorist coverage should take care of it.
