working out upper body only

Newbie question of the week:

What will happen if you strength train your upper body with free weights only and no lower body at all? any dangerous consequences?
 
..you will be like the other 95% of the population that works out. seriously though ya moya is right, you will never reach your potential. i mean you are talking about completely neglecting half of your body. not to mention youll look retarded in shorts.
 
if the reason for not training legs is somthing along the lines of chicks not being bothered about legs or people dont ever see your legs then you might aswell say "hey im only gonna brush my front teeth cuz they're the ones people see or are bothered about, nobody sees the back ones so dont matter if they're yellow"
 
It's pretty stupid if you ask me. If you hit the gym hard and only hit your upper half, you will look so unproportional when you've reached your goal. Not to mention, I work up the most sweat, pump, and heart rate while doing lower body. It's the basis, support, foundation of your body...
 
And you will grow slower. So far looks like not 1 good reason to ignore legs!
 
Not training legs = weak coward

I sometimes feel like the 5% of gym goers. All I care about is having the biggest strongest legs and back in the room. I'm thinking everything else will grow as a result of training the fuck out of the two biggest muscle groups. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy presses of all kinds (flat and standing) but I could care less about curls and such.
 
Yeah that's weak! reminds me of a workout routine I've seen on here.. lol..

You sorth change yourself. Squats an dead lifts build muscle and promote gh production. Your legs are the foundation to the body.
 
I've read somewhere that your chest, shoulders and arms (bis & tris) make up only about 15 % of your total body mass. So your "upper half" is actually much less than half.
