Wide grip dips vs. narrow

A few of the machines you can dip on in my gym have dip bars where you can flip them so they're close together, or a little further apart (a few inches).

Is the narrow grip or wider grip better for chest development?

I can do a rediculous amount of BW dips (always have been able to) but I've always done them close.
 
as long as your comfortable with the width.. but i remember reading somewhere saying that the ideal width is 14" apart.. but that's just me..
 
Wide hurts my shoulders, so I do narrow. I personally don't think it matters so long as your shoulders are happy.

Definately agreed. When I go wide, I just can balance better. The narrow oens at my gym are almost too close, I don't feel stable.

Just dip.
