What should I do while 3 months out of the gym?

I've injured myself in 2 major areas in the past (wrist and ankle), but I kept on working around it (other parts)... unfortunately, that did not do the trick. Now I must stay out of the gym for at least 3 months to heal up properly. I've been going to the gym consistently for the last 3 years and have made great progress, any idea on what I should do to keep mass/fit?
 
The main thing is to watch your diet during any extended period of down time. I assume with the ankle injury that running or even fast walking is out of the question, maybe you can try a bike with the resistance set kind of low?

Swimming is a good recomendation. Water doesn't have the resistance of what you are use to but it should keep your muscles from atrophying.

And obviously - you got to watch the diet.
