Weird New A/f; Frat Boy Behavior

bwood

Banned
I was at the gym last night and as usual I was oblivious
to my surroundings. That is until the usual little twit in his
wifebeater interrupted my set of weighted dips so he
could"perform" his leg lifts. My mind was in a refb haze but
the purity of his grunts and the spectacle of his tiny legs
rising to his proud chest shook me awake from my masochistic
enjoyment of my post-set pump.
I shook my head and looked around to see the usual
crowd but I saw a new A/F; Frat Boy behavior that was
at best, confusing, but at worst deeply disturbing.
There were three of them. Two in pure white wifebeaters
that looked to have been purchased that very day from
A/F. The other, perhaps an outsider slowly being assimilated
into the herd, had a more traditional A/F t-shirt that other
than the A/F tagging and $40 price could be mistaken
for proper workout gear(at least in my lower caste view-point).
They were passing one of the fixed poundage barbells
between the three of them, critiquing each others form.
I felt this was dangerous as the sticker on this barbell
clearly denoted 35lbs and I could swear I saw the bar
bend with each massive elbow flare and rapid swinging
acceleration of the bar that brought the elbows up to nipple level.
They passed the bar quickly around the triangle they formed
around one of the few free bench press stations(perhaps the
squat cage was taken?) This reached a feverish pitch with
the bar passing at an incredible rate of speed between them.
At an unspoken signal, the bar was dropped(far from its rack)
and the trio sped to the mirror for lengthy and frightening
biceps poses. There was, thankfully, no butt sniffing.
Have any others witnessed this particular herd behavior?

No but you sure made a definelty clear picture.... LMAO!!!!

Of course. I think this is a common problem for many. I lift at college so I also experience the "freshman" behavior. In my opinion they should get their own gym. I mean, everyone has to start somewhere but if you can't bench with large plates, if you put 5's on the leg press or you squat like you're letting out a nice little fart, then you shouldn't be in the same gym as me. What I really hate most is when I'm trying to lug 120lb. dumbbells back to the rack and some dick is bicep curling 15s and he looks at me as I strain like I'm in his way. My bad, these 120s aren't heavy, please finish your set of 21s. Lately I just drop them and roll them into their ankles, they move.

I love these two guys that lift together. They wear white beaters and shorts everyday. They think they are huge even though they're like 6'1" 170 and they look at every huge guy in the guy and say, "that's what we're gonna look like". LOL. I have to restrain from beating them.

Just my take on things.

This is funny, very funny, I like to watch them do a set, then interupt them, put twice as much weight on machine, or bar and "work in"

Ok, I agree that this is somewhat weird behavior and we all hate AF wearin' muthafuckas, but.....

Here's a quote from Arnold:

I’ll get into a curl-fest with somebody, handing the bar
back and forth curling to fatigue with each set, until one of us checks out.

So the technique is not to be completely laughed at.

Maybe it's just me but I'm guessing Arnold, Franco and Sergio weren't tossing a 35lb barbell back and forth to each other.

Well Arnold and Franco weren't always monsters either, they had to start at one time as well. Now I don't ever flex in the mirror at the gym, but some guys to, it's motivation. Now the technique mentioned is a advanced technique and I'm guessing the AF guys are nowhere near advanced. But hey as long as they are trying hard. Maybe they need someone to talk to them about proper lifting techniques and other things.

But damn I do hate most of those AF Frat boys. A good friend of mine is in a Frat at NAU and we give him shit all the time for buying rich spoiled friends who drive $40K Audi's and don't work at all, well besides selling coke and weed to their BROTHERS.
