Waxy Maize vs *gasp* CORN STARCH

Ok so waxy maize, which is all the rage, is just corn starch. But it's corn starch from a specific strain of corn. Still corn starch though. So...is there any reason why we should think we need to pay $40.00+ for a tub of corn starch when you can buy it at bulk foods for $0.47/lb.?

PS I know about the "molecule size," but do you really think the stomach discriminates that closely? Discuss.

I'm sorry, this IS a good question and I am bumping it one last time. Someone should say something though. Is waxy maize significantly different from plain old corn starch that warrants paying 1000x the price?

Yeah, it's corn starch. I see it the same way as the dextrose craze. For a while people were making dextrose out to be the greatest thing since dianabol. ( At least dextrose tastes good and is sweeter than maltodextrin so you need less which equals less carbs).

I never got the waxy maize thing other than they always need something new to promote every few years. It's pretty much powdered corn syrup.

That being said Nelson, with someone like yourself who has been around on the scene for awhile, would you chose maltodextrin, dextrose, waxy maize, corn starch or "other" to include in a postworkout concoction? Maybe a really fine oat powder is even better?

I have a feeling he's going to say dextrose / rilose. :D
