Apparently Jared lost a ton of weight while eating subway sandwitches everyday. I asked a few employees at different subways and they told me he would exercise and workout along with eating the subs. One employee told me, "if anyone eats the subs and does cardio and lifts, they'll lose weight". I responded by telling her that most of the meats were processed and the bread was loaded with sugar. Which brings me to my question.

How many of you eat Subway?
Do you consider it healthy? If so what do you order?
If i ever take the trip to Subway all i purchase is an oven roasted chicken breast wrap with double meat, no cheese, with veggies and tomatoes. And i'm not even sure if thats healthy. . . .
what do you guys think?

I will pass. If I HAD to eat at Subgay I would treat it as a cheat meal. If you are young and skinny, then it wouldn't be so bad. A double meat chicken wrap sans cheese with veggies isn't that bad in a pinch imo. I know some gas stations around here have Subway's in them and that shit always smells good.

It is possible to eat low calorie and low carb on subway. Especially for people on the move such as myself... cooking dinner just don't happen.

Unfortunately American bread in general is loaded with honey , high fructose corn sweetener and other sugars in general. Subway is not exempt

If I'm on the road that's pretty much my option for a quick meal. 2x chicken breasts, 6" ww bread, no cheese, no toasting, lots of spinach, banana peppers and jalepenos..salt/pepper/oregano/oil/vinegar.. If I have time to sit and eat I tend to pull up to a chicken kitchen/grill type place and ask for lettuce/tomato/2x chicken add a little mustard curry and do that up.. Or any other restaurant where they sell some sort of veggie/salad and grilled meat/poultry/fish.. I have lots of options around me really..time is what I don't have.. and when you stop for 15-20 minutes to eat every 2hrs it really adds up.

Subway is pretty healthy. You can get a lotta healthy stuff from there, if you dnt soak it with a million different sauces....it's not even a cheat meal for me

not the bread though. . . .
if i eat anything from there i get wraps
say no to high fructose corn syrup!

Also flour tortilla wraps are refined wheat which might as well be sugar.
Also I believe most any tortilla product also contains some high fructose corn sweetener or potassium sorbate | potassium bisulfate | potassium metabisulfate as a preservative

Wraps are no more healthy for you then the bread unless they are whole wheat or whole blue corn

i personally think it is one of the better "fast food" meals but it does have its downs sides, the bread being the main one

When I decided to get back in shape last year, I started eating subway almost everyday for lunch instead of the typical fast food that everyone else I work with would eat.

I always got the 6" turkey on italian with onions/banana peppers and a little bit of honey mustard sauce.

I'm down from 196 lbs and probably 25+% BF to 160 lbs and maybe 13-15% now.

That being said I'm sure it had nothing to do with subway, I reduced my caloric intake to around 1300 calories a day during that timeframe and did 30 minutes on a stationary bike everyday. I probably could have eaten just about anywhere for lunch and lost weight with the amount of calories i was consuming. It's just that subway is very convenient when your at work and don't cook the night before.

i eat it all the time..6inch wheat double chicken breast lettuce tomato cheese lite mayo jalapenos...
subway
polo tropical
chicken kitchen
is about the healthiest fast food there is

word, didn't know you were local..

The meat quality isn't even as good as what you can get in the grocery store. The sodium will be high but if you get turkey with lots of veges and mustard instead of mayo it would be a better choice than micky d's

The meat kind of sucks and the bread has sugar in it, but if I need something quick its better than not eating or eating (gasp) mcdonalds or wendys or something.

If I'm cutting its 6" turkey and ham on wheat with double meat, spicy mustard, lettuce, greenpeppers. If I'm bulking its a 12" instead and I add provolone.

If I am eating out, or considering fast food I usually hit up calorieking.com and look up what I am thinking of eating from each place and pick the best. Might be overkill, but it works for me.

dude double roasted chicken on wheat bread is clean enough, and probably won't be your dirtiest meal of the day.

I basically think it is a great alternative for those who normally have terrible eating habits and don't like to cook for themselves.... If you're someone who normally eats Burger King or similar for two of your meals and then snacks on gas station junk food then switching to Subway (Subgay (love it!!)) is an awesome option for you..... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Subway, but like everyone on EF can find much healthier protein packed choices.... Another thing is that for most guys a half a sub that contains 300-400 calories or more with cheese and dressing won't be filling so we get the full sub that can be up to 800-1000 cals....

never get cheese, and i get olive oil and vinegar as a dressing. double roasted chicken breast wrap with loads of spinach, olives, jalepenos, green peppers, and tomatoes. thats my cheat meal every once an awhile.

why the hell does this thread keep bumping up on my control panel when nobody has posted for 2 days and ive been in here various times..

because it gets bumped when someone votes on the pole

Lolol

i fucking eat subway all the time and love the fuck out of it, most of the time i eat 12' tuna, no cheeze peppers and oil vinegar, im not worried about eating there all the time, because if you eat right the rest of the day your body/metabolism should burn that shit np especially on my workout days :)

Used to have it a little bit but there was a recent TV programme over here in the UK and it showed how many of the subs have a huge amount of salt in. The meatball headed the table with a 6" having the equivalent of 19 bags of ready salted crisps - that put me off for good.

If I am eating out, or considering fast food I usually hit up calorieking.com and look up what I am thinking of eating from each place and pick the best. Might be overkill, but it works for me.

That site has all the good resturants nutritional info. My wife works at Outback Steakhouse and brings home food all the time. Calorie King has all the foods I eat and I can log in Fitday.com accordingly. Good call.

subway is shit just like all other fast food. you get a lot of bread even the wheat bread is mostly simple carbs and high in sodium. then the meats. no matter what you order it is all highly processed and preserved. its not good for you. it will do if its your only option but you can get better breads and lunch meat at the market if your going to go that roubt. drink milk or a shake if your in a hurry. mcdonalds drive through sells milk.

You know they do have salads there now, right? Get the meat you want, the veggies you want, without the sugary bread... problem solved. Crutons if you want some kind of carbs.

I only eat it in a pinch, also I only get the grilled chicken breast meat on a 6" wheat with double the meat and jalapenos. Maybe pepper jack cheese if I feel i've had a clean week. Off season or/and winter time i'll get cheese and maybe the 12".

Subway was a staple in my diet when I was bulking. Now, since I am cutting, I stay away from it like the plague. There's High Fructose Corn Syrup in the bread. That is not good.

Jared lost weight at subway because he ate less of it, not more. And when he ate it he chose the healthiest combinations and also had a very hardcore work out regiment.

but

I get the wheat with lettuce, tomato, cheese, chicken breast and olives. Thats not that unhealthy, especially PWO.

If I eat a subway it will be for a cheat meal. I don't get them often, so I might as well go all out when I do get one.

Foot-long double meatball marinara, double cheese and hot sauce. *drools*
