Yeah I got everyone pissed at me at my old wirehouse. Before I left I met with one of the guys in my office whom I could trust with my clients. He and met my top 50 clients over the next few weeks. When I was leaving I told the manager what he and I had done. He was soooo pissed but since I wasn't going to a competing firm and it was already done he couldn't do much to me...

A private practice with at least 2 but maybe 3 other guys. Its obviously going to take some time to get everything set up, and we would have to get on board with a RIA firm (which should be easy), but we've decided were going to put this bidness into motion.

Hopefully we wont starve. I could pretty much assure that I could take 1/3 to 1/2 of my book of business with me, and the other folks are in a similar position.

In the back of my mind I think the main reason Im doing this is because I just want to have business cards that say 75th & Associates.

Dont be surprised if I start hitting you guys up for food money in the near future.

nothing better, dont' be surprised with a cease and desist order even temporary if you touch the book of business, non compete or not, it will tie you up in court for months if not years..

I support you 100% on this! It may be painful at first but it will be worth it in the long run. One of my college buddies went out and opened his own firm and struggled the first few years but he is pulling in over 7 figures a year now.

Yeah, thats why I wont get too greedy with my clients. I know (for the most part) which ones will appear to leave on their own. As long as there is no proof of me soliciting their transfer then Im in the clear.
