Taking creatine straight - no mixing

I've recently heard a few guys say that instead of mixing creatine with a sports drink, juice, or water; they would just dump the powder in thier mouth and then wash it down with water.

Anyone else do this or heard of it? Any problems this could cause?
 
That's how I take it in the evenings, 5 grams dumped in my mouth with a large glass of water to wash it down. Nothing has broken or fallen off yet..
 
Thats how i've done it for the past 4 years..when i was mixing it in juice it would stick to the sides of the glass so this way u know ur getting the full dose
 
that's how i do it -- take a little r-ALA or ALA before a meal, eat a carby meal, then grab a scoop of creatine and swish it around in my mouth with water. works just fine.
 
Its not necessary to mix it with anything since creatine has a differemt absorbtion time than the carbs.
 
Isn't the idea of the juice to raise insulin levels to shuttle the creating molecules into the muscles? I've never tried just dropping the powder in my mouth. Doing that... do you think your really absorbing it an not just digesting it? I'd like to know because that would make my daytime creatine dosages A LOT easier.

Interesting. I just dump it in a glass of water and stir, but dumping in the mouth is a good way to know you're getting all 5g.

I don't think your body can tell the difference..

When you're talking of shuttling anything into the muscles, it's coming from the bloodstream by way of the small intestines, not straight from the stomach. Basically, no matter how you take your creatine, it's going the same route to your muscles.

You'd have to look up wether the insulin spike is supposed to help the creatine that was just taken be absorbed, or just that which is already in your bloodstream. (IE., how well (and quickly) creatine is absorbed by the small intestines)
 
i can tell you from experience that taking it with dextrose is a lot more effective.
