So I pay my car off in March and guess what

but seriously.....i'd get a second opinion from another shop.

oil changes are a must. I found out the hard way. Also you gotta chack that shit all the time cause you never know if you have a leak or are burning oil.

Like I said I have had everything done to this car. it is very obvious the piston is shot. I worked in the service dept for VW for 3 years. I am pretty smart when it comes to cars. The funny thing is that I have had my car in the shop a number of times for the sound. Now that is is very loud they know what it is. I am going to do my best to have it covered under warranty!!!!

Even cast pistons don't just fall apart unless they were run seriously hot or without oil. If it is a knocking noise, it is most likely a shot main bearing, or stuck valve, not the piston. A cracked piston will frag and ruin your block in short order.

they mentioned the piston skirt. My car has never run hot and I have had my oil changed faithfully since I have had it and have all the proper documentation to back it up. Like I said before I will fight with these bastards to cover it under warranty.

Well, I guess we can't judge cars by their manufacturer after all.

I would get a second opinion if I were you then I'd keep fighting with whom you are fighting.

My mother was told that her 14 year old benz needed a new tranny, my mother didn't trust the guy - he was too pushy (and he offer to buy the car), she had it towed to the house and left it there to die. (long story) Sometime later she got a second opinion - a few parts and a several hundred dollars of labor later the car was back to normal, well :lmao: after she had to replace all the tires.

That car btw, is now 23 years old and has nearly 300k miles - original engine and tranny.

look for a rebuild with a warranty. you can find that.

i had a dodge truck and i blew 3 engines when it was under a year old. all under warranty, but out of the lemon law. The 4th engine... the dealer blew on the test drive after putting it in. :)

i thought i'd get a new car, but they flew in someone from headquarters to oversee the installation. i picked it up and there were managers from headquarters swarming all over. so i drive home, and go to park, and it stalls going into reverse. every time.
i couldn't put it in reverse.

so back i went. they fixed it and i sold it.

I may take it to another Toyota dealership and see what they say. But when the service writer heard the sound he went and got the foreman and as soon as I revved the motor he knew right away. I looked at his and said I blew a rod right? he said no not yet........

My neighbor paid off her Jeep, and had her insurance changed from full coverage to liability-only. A week later, this happened:
