Shoulder Pain

Lestat said:
thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'm hoping its not a bone spur but am thinking about visiting the doc.
just a thought - not sure if you can "tell" the difference between a bone spur and rotator issues, but I had a partially torn RC and it was misdiagnosed by the docs. took Xrays (which don't tell you shit for RC issues) and assumed everything was fine. just be aware - xrays don't tell the whole story

Active Release Technique. No reason to even look into anything else until you've had this done, as it will likely fix the problem quickly. Plus you're in San Diego, so there's a host of very skilled providers around you.

If it is an RC problem. I made a long thread on my experience with ART a while back. It was beyond heaven. There is only one ART guy in this state and he ended up being a savior. Hurt like a bitch but felt great too.

I get some serious shoulder pain in my right shoulder only.. kind of in the front, but feels like its 2-3 inches in near the joint... tender to the touch even.

Flat bench is usually what triggers the pain the most, but I can feel it in other exercises.

I've rested it for a couple of weeks but it still seems to return once I start benching 225 or more.

Anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Should I see my orthopedist? I have a feeling he's just going to tell me to stop benching heavy... that isn't what I want to hear.

The doc will either tell you to rehab the shoulder by time off which isn't an option, cortizone shots (painful..sometimes worse feeling than the subject injury, not to mention time off from that remedy anyway) or utilize the correct anabolic (any injectible test that is oil based) that will ultimately fill the joint and surrounding area with fluid that rehabs the injured area in a sense plus it won't any longer hurt either as a result...all that combined with less weight and higher repetitions--and the most important issue is for you to start using alot more isolation movements or in contrast to your heavier basic movements. Train smart and always be willing to change or adapt or like the dinosaurs, you will inevetably die and become extinct...and will have to ultimately cease doing the very thing you love most anyway -Achilles25-
