You should modify your regimen. It doesn't mean you should take it easy or do any less, but you may need to do different exercises.

Doctors telling people to simply stop doing something doesn't work so well. It can be drugs, potato chips, lifting, MMA, cigarettes, etc. etc... but simply saying "don't do that" doesn't work.

You need to find something you like as much or better that doesn't load your lower back in a dangerous way. A good doctor will explore your new options instead of telling you what you can't do anymore.

the ex husband has had spinal surgery three times...all three times the minimally invasive discectomy variety...know what?

hes pretty much exactly where he started and I know pry about 12 other people same thing...surgery really did nothing for them

the ex went to one of the best neurosurgeons in the nation too
the artififcial disc thing you mentioned is still not conventional surgery and insurance won't like cover it unless you have coverage for experimental treatment

this...the other half has a bulging disc (lumbar)...I have several (thoracic and cervical)...we've both been told how to modify exercise and sports to not make it worse

Well that was going to be my advice to you. You have to stop anything that is putting weight on your shoulders. Squats, calf raises, even lunges if you are into that.

Deadlifts are ok if done with perfect form.

Bench - have to put both feet on the bench.

That is advice from an old man with a bad back. Sound like you are much more interested in popping pills ore going under the knife.

I am more about living pain free than being jacked but I have a big dick so that is different.
