Question for the homophobes...

My general opinion is that people should love whoever they want to love and be attracted to whoever they're attractive too. The only relationships that disgust me are abusive ones. Someone can be madly in love with a lamp for all I care and I support them if that makes them happy.

I simply will never understand why people can be so hateful towards homosexuals, bisexuals, transexuals, etc. Life would be boring if we didn't have differences.

Oh, and regarding the whole "homosexuality is a sin" BS, the bible says that all sin in equal in His eyes...even if it's just a thought. So those who hate and condemn homosexuals may as well condemn and hate all of us as none of us are without sin. That's just my 2 cents.

You have got to be kidding me! Not only are you are black democratic woman, you are a fucking dike too? Bwaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa that explains a lot.

You must be uglier than a bucket full of assholes. 99% of real life dikes are pigs that could not get a guy unless he was drunk so they had to turn gay.

For the most part, I have enjoyed and agreed with your posts, but this one is pretty ignorant. Your bringing race, politics, and sexuality all into one insult. Not very bright. Not trying to be a smart ass, but you must either A) get your ass kicked quite often or B) live in a redneck town....my guess is B.

i'm a "practicing" christian. you tend to forget that i am a new testament chrsitian. things have changed as far as the cutting hair and such goes. i don't have a problem with gays in general, i just have a problem with them being preachers or priests. that's all.

You said God considers homosexuality an "abomination." This is the basis for your "problem" with gay preachers if I'm not mistaken. That is Old Testament my friend. At least be consistent.

I Corinthians 6:9, sums it up.

know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdon of God?be not deceived:neither fornicators not idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind(homosexuals, translated to modern english).

case closed.

MB, no homosexuality does'nt hit buttons until it infringes on the teachings of the bible. that is all, case closed. moving on...

yes, I can see why you'd be anxious to hurry on out of the room after making your argument dependent on that translation.

I feel rather sure, if you've read serious Biblical scholarship, you know that Paul was at most referring to the Greek system of pederasty in these famous lines (echoed in Timothy). He specifically referenced the malakoi ("effeminate boys") and an unheard of group called the arsenokoitai, thought by some to be an invention on his part, probably to describe customers of the malakoi.

The whole point of the text is that Christians who sue one another in pagan courts are no better than whores and other sinners. That is why the early courts interprented the expression "malakoi arsenokotai" as people of "soft" (related to "effeminate" in the Greek) ethics. Others read "arsenokotai" literally as gigolos, who were very common in that time.

Luther revised the meaning to be "masturbators" and now it's been revised again but those anxious for Biblical proof to mean "homosexual." There as no such word in ancient Greek, because no such animal existed. And the words specifically used to describe sex between men do not appear in the passage.

Nice try. I guess you wont' read this, having left the room, but even if you could make a case on this single passage, the history of politically correct translation sabotages you.

i'm still here. i lurk in the shadows, ya know. =)

i had a feeling you would say something like that, as i read on a website. www.religioustolerance.org. it may be .com, i can't remember for sure. you are using the liberal(it descrbies both lib and conserv views on it) interpretation. seeing as how you are offended and i did'nt mean to offend you, let's just say we won't change each others minds nor anyonelse's for that matter. so let's just call it quits here for the sake of us not liking each other. yes, i do like you cause you are a level headed person and i enjoy reading your posts even though i may not agree with everything you say. truce?

I'm not taking this personally, don't worry about that, but I'm not going to let you make a blanket statement about homosexuality and the Bible and let it pass -- for the reason that other people read this shit.

And among them are religious gay kids who have been lied to about those lines from Corinthians by backward ministers. While I might not change anyone's mind on your side, I can certainly give gay kids some ammo. There is NO uniform agreement on the interpretation of that text. EVERYONE on both sides knows that you can't just translate malakoi into "homosexuals."

And people need to understand this generally: The Bible is an interpretive translation and it's changed several times in history. Even if you went to a primitive Baptist Bible college you'd be taught this.

primitive Baptist Bible college...

lol, that was pretty good there. i'm not baptist, never claimed it either, hehe. i get your point and do appologize for my blanket statement. i think we've come to an understanding here. peace out.

btw, i sent you some karma, you'll see the thread if you check your profile.
