So far niacin seems to be about the only drug that is effective in raising HDL. Luckily it's cheap and available OTC. I usually take 500mg of niacin along with aspirin before I go to bed. During the day I take non-flushing niacin.
By the way aspirin is a good thing to take anyway if you have cholesterol issues. It's believed that aspirin's anti-inflammatory effects reduce plaque accumulation in arteries which may explain why low dose daily aspirin (~80mg) lowers the probability of heart attacks.
