New training routine

After months of seeing orthopedic surgeons to repair my shoulder I found one worthy. When I tore my biceps tendon, labrum, and rotator cuff I also damaged my Long Thoracic Nerve. The arthroscope took care of the tears but we didn't know the nerve was damaged until it was too late and my seratus anterior is now gone for good along with my nerve. I tried a nerve decompression but it didn't work, so my only alternative was to get a tendon transfer. The doc took my pectoralis major tendon where it attatches in my armpit and relocated it to my shoulder blade to correct the winging. They used tissue from the bank to extend my tendon.
Doc is telling me 5 weeks in a sling, 3 months for range of motion and then I might be able to start strenghting it.
Has anyone ever had something like this done befor? I had trained faithfuly for 5 years taking 4 weeks off total. I wasn't huge but very respectful at 5'8'' #198 10% bodyfat. I am just looking to get close to what I was. Any ideas????

I am sorry to hear such bad news to a fellow warrior. My guess is you can still reach your fromer physique if during therapy you take it easy and do everything they say to do it will take time though, the one thing you want to avoid is doing too much cause this might hurt you worst than before. Take care of yourself and try to get back full range of motion before you try to strengthen your body.

Thanks for the encouragement. I plan to keep up the cardio and I will try to use patience when training so I don't put myself back even further.

on a side note, why isnt my goddamn sig showing. or am i the only one that cant see it??

That blows hard...you have the same stats I do....I unfortunately have problems with my shoulder but not to your extent. AC Joint, shoulder impingement, and rotator cuff problems. Luckily for me, therapy and cortizone helped some. Aint the same. You become really careful about warming up, making sure form is 100%, and training smarter (even if it means lighter weight).

Good luck to you bro..
