My wife wants to change her middle name to her maiden name but I was actually thinking about changing my last name to hers. Reason being is that my brother who is the III will already continue my dads name plus the fact that my last name isn't my original last name so I don't care as much.

I forgot to add that the reason I was considering it was because her parents never had a boy so his name will essentially die. When she was a kid, she always said that she would give one of her babies her fathers last name so the name could continue.
