Major Florida Suckage and Ownage

They do not allow you to plant new trees so many feet from power lines. If you do, the city comes out and fines you. You have to get a permit to plant a new tree. This may be only in my city though.

But FPL will continue coming back to trim the trees near power lines as often as needed. It's not the same as not having the tree there to begin with but at least it helps some, sometimes.

All of our lines are underground...community is only 5 y.o. :)

Hope this new one doesn't hit land at full force. Be safe everyone and watch the ewather reports!

Some of the forecasts have the eye crossing at 29.0n 81.0w or just south of that. I'm at 28.0n 81.0w....130mph winds :worried:

I think it will pass Lauderdale. though will still get tons of rain.

Underground lines will not help you. Our community also has underground lines as do most of the newer communities.. Problem is, the feeder lines along the road that feed power to yours are mostly still all above ground on poles. Trees fall taking down these feeder lines and yours go dead regardless.

As for the trees being trimmed, yea most all companies keep the branches trimmed away from the lines. But when you have a 60 ft tall tree, and it's 20 ft away from a line, that line is coming down regardless when the tree does.
Same with branches that are way ABOVE the lines and they fall .
