welcome to the boards!!!
well... you've asked a very loaded question.. i mean there are so many foods out there and they basically fit into one category or the other (with the exception of lard and other all fat products) soo... lets just start like this and provide a few quick examples...
"good" sources of protein include - chicken, fish, lean cuts of beef, egg whites
"good" sources of startchy or complex carbs include - oatmeal, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, veggies, whole wheat bread products (100% ww)
"good" sources of simple carbs include - fruits, carb drinks (a lot of people ignore simple carbs which are generally in the form of the 'evil' sugar, but simple carbs following a workout are a great way to replenish depleted glyceron stores quickly, allowing the body to recover faster and get nutrients to the muscles that have been worked... don't leave them out, just get good ones!)
"good" souces of fats include - flax seed (oil), fish, all natural peanut butter
basically a good diet will have all (or a high majority of) calories from clean, unprocessed foods such as the ones listed before... stay away from food that has things you cant pronounce on the label has always been one of my rules... better yet, stay out of the internal of the grocery store entirely except for soap, and oats
if you read the past posts and use the search button here and on the diet board, you will find a lot of good examples of diets that you can use to create a plan that works for you based on your current stats and goals...
good luck
