keto diet or zone for cutting

i am confused so would love some fedback on this if anyone could answer this :
1. Is it right that the bottom line in dieting and losing fat is calories?
2. So, then if the calories were accounted for 500 below maintainence and doing cardio on empty stomach and doing weight ... then one doing the keto diet or the isocaloric diet should lose the same amount after water weight ....?
3. So the only difference in the diets is the % of lbm lost right?

I would love answers to these questions since i have tried the keto diet and have lost effectively on it but then i cannot stick to it for longer than 1 1/2 weeks ... id prefer to have my carbs in the morning ( oatmeal ) and then protein and high fibre veges/ salad the rest of day ( no sugars or flour in the diet ...) so it would be like the 50% protein, 30% fat and 20% carbs ( low GI) ... would this be as effective in fat loss as the keto diet if calories were the same ?
