Jim's Nice Little Journal

Tuesday, April 18th

Deadlift:
225x5
315x5
365x5
405x3
510x3

*510 felt heavy. I can see now that my sticking point is going to be from the floor to my shins. If anybody can recommend an exercise that focuses on that specific sticking point I'd appreciate it.

Barbell Rows:
155x5
195x5
215x5
235x5
260x5

*The weights felt heavy today; I assume because I just got done pulling on the deadlift which I'm not use to. Normally I'd bent row on Mondays. On the set of 260 I jerked the weight up a little more than I would have liked.

Chins:
45x5
55x5
70x5

Even though I set some PRs today, I felt drained and flat. I split my finger open during the rest period of my heavy deadlift set so I was dealing with that all workout. Excuses excuses, my mind just wasn't into it. I'm in desperate need of this vacation!

Thursday, April 20th

So this is my last workout entry in this journal. I'll start up a new one when I return from vacation next Monday, 5/1.

Weight: 223 lbs

Bench:
225x5
265x5
265x5
265x5
265x5

Barbell Row:
165x5
195x5
215x5
235x5
265x5

*The weights felt pretty good. 265 felt a lot lighter than the 260 just two days ago.

Chin:
45x8
45x6
45x6

*I was really gunning for a 45 lb plate for 3 sets of 8 but came up two short on the last two sets. I don't like to make excuses but I got stuck using the crappy close-grip 'hammer style' chin-up bar instead of the regular bar I'm use to.

Barbell Curl:
145x4
95x5
95x5

*145 felt heavy. The reps were ok but I started feeling pain in my wrists so I know I'm not ready for that sort of weight. 95 felt easy, had quite a pump in my arms because of the chins and now curls.

Overall it was a nice workout. I closed out setting a PR on the bent row. I can tell that I'm in an 'overreached state' because the weights feel really heavy, and I'm not exactly dying to get to the gym either. I'm hoping to come back extremely motivated, and joint-pain free.

Those are some good rowing numbers. Eat up while on vacation, you'll come back dying to hit the weights.
