There is several reasons why the USA supports Israel. Probably the absolute biggest reason is that Israel is our closest and biggest ally in the world. Israel has NO OTHER friends. Without U.S. support Israel's would be up shits creek without a paddle. Israel wouldn't fall, but that is only because the nation is armed to the teeth and has nuclear weapons, and is more than willing to blow the rest of the world to hell. Israel is like a vicious dog with one master, without the united states holding it back, it would end up taking chunks out of everyone else.
So Israel needs the U.S.A. I also tend to believe Israel does the United States dirty work. We all know the Israel and the mossad has no problem assassinating folks, its a known fact the Israelis will hunt you down and kill you even if it takes 40 years. Also Jewish folks make up very powerfull special interest groups in the USA. Jewish people obviously support Israel. Also, the right wing christians in the country support Israel, because my understanding is the Israelies have to kick the arabs ass in order for things to go right according to the bible. I could be wrong on that though, so don't flame me to death.
The only thing is, even though we have so much power over Israel we don't use it. Israel is our best military ally but WE DON"T EVER USE THEM. Sure we got a big doberman in the front yard, but if we ever sick it on someone, the neighborhood will kick us out. So israel is only usefull nowdays in pretty much and end of the world situation. Take the Iraq war..... we made Israel not retaliate even tho they got hit by scud missles.... because of the backlash and drama that would have taken place had israel gotten involved in the war.
So israel is of hardly any use to us militarily. Cause the biggest gun in the world is of no use, if your not willing to use it. And we don't want to use the Israeli gun........ we don't..... cause we NEVER HAVE.
Israel also takes our money, and they cause us problems in the middle east. Israel may be the most civilized nation in the middle east but it is holding everyone else back. We loose so much ground economicaly in the region, and loose so much ground politicaly because of the israeli-palestinian conflict. Most animosity towards the USA in the region comes out of the the USA one sided approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflic.
Me? I don't give a fuck about the palestinians or the israelies. I am lookin and bang for the buck and projecting U.S. influence onto the region. We FORCE Israel and the Palestinians to make peace. And we CAN do it. ONLY THE USA can do it. The U.N. would have already done it, but we are stopping them, with U.S. power we could pressure the U.N. to end the violence, and rebuild the area democraticaly. Do that.... and everyone else won't have so much to bitch at us about. Invade Iraq and bring democracy to the nation with the world largest oil reserves. Between Iraq, and the formers U.S.S.R. there is alot of potential to break the oil cartels. End result..... more U.S. control over the region, more peace, major boost for the global economy and in the end, taking the middle east out of the middle ages and into the modern civilized era. The U.S.A. is the one country that can bring peace to the middle east. The U.S.A. is the one country that help advance the middle east. We just have to do it, and believe it or not, but what is most beneficial for us, is actually most beneficial for the region. Policy makers just do not realize this. They are blinded by special interest groups, have outdated ideas about the value of Israel to the U.S. and look too much at the short term and not the long term.
Money changes everything, people get poor and they get unhappy, and then they turn into religious fanatics who want to kill everyone else. Sure Osama Bin Laden was a millionaire, but he's the exception not the rule.
