Is the word FAG the same as the word N*gger?

Seems the word faggot is used freely in the world to degrade someone. I assume this particular word is viewed in the gay community as offensive as the word N8gger. Now if one uses the word N8gger they are immediately looked as racist and ignorant. With this small example perhaps Ryan H And other are correct when they explain that the gay plight is much more pronounced then racism that eats up most of the press.

p.s. I am not calling the kettle black, I have used this particular word many times in the name of humor on this board...I am stopping

I'm not the one to answer b/c I am not gay...so I don't know if it is offensive or not...I t doesn't seen to carry the smae weight as the other word though ....I know the EYEPEE didn't seem racist to me but Asians thought it was so.....
