Subby, that thread was actually fairly informative until SOME MEN abused the privilige of discussion and turned it into a farce.

I find it very difficult to believe that if you got into an arguement and in the heat of that arguement you called your mother a cunt she wouldn't smack you silly.

Cunt is not just a profanity. It is used as a derogatory term for WOMEN. <--- women happen to be a *group of people* who that word is used to demean.

Cunt does not = shit, fuck, hell, etc...

You might not find that word offensive. Your friends might not find that word offensive. Maybe even your mother... but that will not change THE FACT that there are many people of both genders here on elite that DO find that term unbelievably offensive.

So it has been made quite clear that its use is just not acceptable.

i do NOT want to stirr up drama, simply continue a discussion on the english langauge and how its percieved. that should not be too much to ask. its a DISCUSSION forum, where far worse things are posted.

there is A HUGE difference between calling my FRIEND a fag and calling THEIR MOTHER a cunt.

if i called my friend a cunt they would think its funny.

yet i see plenty of people call eachother fag. i was brought up by my mother saying shit piss fuck cunt, but if i EVER called anyone retarded, or gay, or a fag, i was immediately punished. probably because one is hurtful and offensive to an actual group of people, while the other is just profanity.
