Is it possible to dig a hole straight through the center of the Earth?

From one end to the other? Like a tunnel but straight down. Then we could throw those little containers like at the bank where people could travel inside of them. It would cut down greatly on the distance and time travelled. No traffic.

Well since the crust mantle interface (asthenosphere) is plastic in reactivity you would probably not be able to breach it as it would return fill your hole. Surmising that you made it though into the mantle the temperature would melt just about anything you were trying to dig with plus the inherent radiation would cook you. If you actually made it through the mantle to the mantle core interface the liquid outer core would come spewing up and you'd be really fucked. Plus the dynamo action of the inner core outer core activity would make direction finding impossible and you might just come back up parallel to your original course, or get lost in the outer core until your air supply ran out.

Hey.. we could do some buggie jumping through that hole.
Or.. hmm.. we could fill it with water and organize diving tours to the centres earth.. But will the water flow out? Hmm.. Let's keep it a blind hole then.. Leave on side close. And put some lights inside. Ok.. one more idea.. We can insert a gigantic spring inside the hole so that we can launch space crafts far in space.. Or we can turn the hole into a cannon. Fill it with TNT and put a pellet at the top. If the martians come this will be a great surprise for them. Oh.. Another idea.. We can fill the hole with propulsive powder like the one used in rockets and turn the earth into a rocket. After that we can travel to a better galaxy where there are two suns so there is always summer!!
