listen broly, the best advice any one here could give you is this.

#1 address your emotional problems first
#2 set small goals for yourself and understand how they can be obtained. this doesn't apply to just lifting
#3 stick with your attack plan to obtain your goals. after a fixed amount of time, i.e. 9 weeks, change it if it's not working. find your weaknesses and make them your strengths. this won't happen overnite, just like anything in life
#4 eat healthy. no supplement or "special" diet is going to fix your problems at your level

only you can help yourself

Words of wisdom.

Joker, the average individual needs about 15 mg of zinc per day to function optimally. A 300 ibs powerlifter or football playing might need a bit more, something in the range of 25 or as many as 30 mg.

Now I'm curious, since Warpath recomended it and seems to be rather defensive. I'll look at seem how much zinc is in ZMA suppliments. A cheap multi-vitamin usually has 10-15 mg.
Defensive? Pissed off is more like it. YOU called me irresponsible for suggesting that ZMA might help this guy. Do a search in the american journal of endocrinology for the original study on the impact of zinc mono methionine magnesium apartate on free test and IGF1 levels.

Ok, next week I'll do that between classes. I have access to an electronic library of all published peer review journals. Looking over his diet, I feel that his problem is not a zinc deficiency though. Most of the evidence I've viewed suggests that ZMA's testosterone boosting effects are hype, however I will check the American Journal of Endocrinology.

If you are correct, it would not be the first time I've had to admit I was wrong on this board and apologised. If I make the bold claim to be a man of science and push my statements as hard as I do, then I must also admit my error when science proves me wrong, and new research comes to light. However if I find nothing of value from this source on the issue, I will stand by my original statement. Fair enough?

Fair enough, if you can run quick electronic checks, check the american journal of applied physiology while you're at it, I read the study a few years ago and it might be either one of those two. If you cant find them, I'll look it up myself.

guys i honestly don't think my emotional problems are too bad. they seem to be worsened after a few weeks of heavy, hardcore, multi failure set lifting...i think it may be overtraining in part..but i accept im not the happiest soul at the best of times...

warpath and bbf i worry about the test issue but i think i get enough zinc..i take a lot of multivitamins and pay close attention to the vitamin and mineral side of my diet....i eat so goddam much i think i get too much of everything ....lol

I take 30-50mg of zinc every night before bed, it has such an important role in tissue formation supplementation is a must

You think ZMA would be worth the money?
It has 30mgs of zinc, plus magnesium and B-6. A 30-60 day supply (depending on how much you take daily) is only #32.99.

Thanks,
Joker

I used to do that Arnold routine too - messed me up, made me a wirey little dude. I had strength but no mass. Then I just quit - took 5 months off (talk about depression). Give yourself a days rest between your workouts. Let you muscles recoop. Its hard to do, but it works. You'll burn out on Arnold w/o help, so do the tried and true day off method. Rest Rest Rest - the tortois out ran the hare.
