Going on serious carb restriction

frankenfurter

I have been lifting seriously for a while now, and going with about 100gms of carbs a day, mostly in the AM, throwing in a refeed on Sunday. I've made excellent strength and size gains, but now I'm ready for a serious cutting phase.

I'll restrict carbs 10-15 gms, only post workout. Probably a slice of wheat toast with some peanut butter. I'm going to do it for 20 days straight without a refeed, then see how I am responding and report my results here. Protein will stay up around 1gm per lb of body weight, fat will be EV Olive, flax and fish oil, with the occasional tbsp of real butter.

Wish me luck!:D

True, but you may want to refeed before 20 days. I have tried this approach and an earlier refeed and I think the latter is better. My muscles seemed to get too flat from not having the refeed. Also you will keep your metabolism running quicker if you have an earlier refeed. With this said, everyone has to try things for themselve to see what works best. Good luck.

I've been doing something similar keeping my carbs to only 20 a day and after 3 days of it people are begging me to eat some more carbs. I'm EXTREMLY moody and irritable, WAY more so then any other time in my life and I feel like I'm going to take someone's head off and play football with it. Anyone else have this experience? Does it get better?

Does it really get easier after a few days?

MUCH! It's been awhile since I cracked open my biochem book, but depending on insulin resistance, it takes a bit of time for insulin to go down, glucagon to come up, and the body to shift into ketosis.

Right now I couldn't imagine eating more carbs than I already am - which is to say none daily other than what's in a pound of broccoli - I'm calmer, more easygoing, and my thought processes are clearer the fewer carbs I eat.

How do you all eat 20-30 grams of carbs a day?

I am eating around 20-30, its not so bad. The first few days are very gay, but then you realize what you can and cant have, I used to get iced lattes everyday, them shits is hard to give up. I eat lots of meat, salads with chicken, steak, or seafood (perferrably seafood), tuna, protien shakes with flax(icky), eggs, omlettes, ham.

Not hard after a while. Good luck frankenfurter, just keep at it, dont give into temptation, God I want some chips

Just out of curiosity, what does a diet with only 30g carbs/day look like? I've neer even heard of anyone that could pull that off and only ingest an honest 30g total carbs/day..??..??

However, I'd kind of like to try it for a few weeks. I have twow eeks to lose the last of my weight before i start bulking agian, and I'd really like to make my weight :D

so... lemme know... what does your daily siet look like..??..??
