A couple questions
Welcome to the shoulder dislocation club....
Were you able to re-locate the shoulder yourself after dislocating it, or did you have to go to the hospital and have a doctor do it?
If a doctor had to do it, did it pop back in quick, or did he really have to muscle it back in place?
If it went back in easy, then you have stretched the "cup" of the ball and cup joint, meaning you will most likely dislocate your shoulder again in the future, because it is loose. Unfortunatley there is no way to tighten the cup, even with surgery. You can however strengthen the surrounding muscles to help hold the joint in place.
Either way, you MUST go to a physical therapist and learn the rehab exercises. If you don't or you half ass the process, you can count on doing it again. Then surgery will be the next step. Sadly, surgery doesn't always correct the problem. I myself had the Bankhart (sp?) proceedure done 10 years ago, but still dislocated even after the surgery.
I am regretably a member of the 100+ club.
