Classless DUKE Fans

So WV's Butler goes down in agony with a knee injury. He's laying on the floor for several minutes, sprawling in pain and crying. While down on the floor, (with OVER 9 minutes left in the game), the DUKE fans start chanting "It's all over...It's all over", I would be ashamed to be a Duke fan after that...

I didn't hear that, that doesn't mean it didn't happen....but I didn't hear it. In fact, I "thought" I heard someone..not sure who if it was Huggins or one of the players, say something akin to sarcasm that seemed to insinuate it was zoubeks fault that butler got hurt. I dunno, like I said I might have heard wrong but I heard the same thing twice....."yeah, they don't foul"..said sarcastically. The kid tried to stop when zoebek cut off the baseline and his knee buckled....the call was actually a charge against butler, I didn't understand why they were saying that.

Yeah, it was in the background after he was down for like 3 mins you could hear their section start the chant for a couple mins while he was still laying on the floor, announcers did not mention it. As to Huggins, he made the comment to the effect of "it's Duke, of course they don't foul" as a sarcastic point that everyone was talking about before this game ever started that "it's Duke", they can throw elbows in peoples faces and not get called and they can get away with alot more because "its Duke".

If you can find the game online with the original TV audio, watch while Butler is down and listen in the background for the chant that gets started.

PS: It was a bang bang play, Zubeck seemed to still be sliding into position, thus the argument for a blocking call.

WTF was he down rolling around that long for anyways? After a few seconds to collect himself, he should have been helped up by the trainer and a teammate and taken off the floor. Man up for the love of God...you don't see hockey players laying prone that long unless they've been knocked out cold or have a potential spinal injury. You don't stay down that long because your knee got wrecked.

A week ago you were crying about Duke players throwing elbows. You'd be ashamed to be a Duke fan no matter. You're biased against them. The fans could have carried the guy to the locker room and you'd still be whining.

The coach rubbing noses with him and caressing his face was more than enough to make me vote overwhelmingly for duke.

Wrong, sadly, I have nothing against the Duke team, I used to like Duke and I always liked Coach K, but even in their "entrance" to the game the players were talking about "we arent your same ole Duke team, we are meaner & tougher..." blah blah blah, they are a bunch of strung out looking, elbow throwing, classless fan having little boys now. Funny how you chime in, in every Duke thread though, you must be slurpin up that Blue and White *rolls eyes*

Did I see a hockey mention in here? Sorry this is America...Next...Get up quick with your blown knee? He was a Senior, in the final 4, trying to head to the NBA, trying ot help his team mount a comeback...So "poor traininer, and whining" wasnt all that was in play, more like a blown knee and emotions and training staff assessing the problem. Also on a raised court they couldnt exactly drive a cart out...But its cool to be a dickhead douchebag too...Hockey lmao the only sport that needs to fill its roster with 18 and 19 year olds because no one is running to play or even watch it outside of the playoffs and olympics. NASCAR has them beat with rating and all they do is drive in a circle...gtfo

You have no idea what you are talking about. The guys who come into the league at 18 and 19 are the best players in the world. Crosby and Ovechkin came in when they did, because they COULD. Not any different from Kobe or KG coming into the NBA at 18. Plus, hockey has a lot of older players who are still effective. Chris Chelios still plays age 48 and is still decent.

And NASCAR? You do realize that Nascar beats just about everything in ratings aside from championship games.

for the record, zoubek got there first...the kid knew it which is why he tried to make the cut that buckled his knee. Huggins had no business even remotely bringing anything like that up, especially with his kid lying on the ground with his career staring him the face. There was no foul and nothing a duke player did, save get to the baseline first, even remotely contributed to the kids injury. I'll have to see if I can find some video of it and see if the duke fans were really doing that. It doesn't sound like them...I've watched ALOT of Duke games and never once heard their fans say anything that couldn't get broadcasted on air. Cameron indoor is probably one of the few arena's in college basketball where they can leave the courtside mic's on. You do that anywhere else and the censors are going to be earning their paycheck as well as develop massive carpel tunnel from all the bleep button pushing they'd be doing for 40 minutes.

happens in football all the time. what the big deal? Hell we did it in high school. The band would even play the death march.

that's actually kinda pedestrian as far as classless fans are concerned. . .on november 11, 1985 pelle lindbergh (superb flyers goalie) died one day after crashing his porsche 930 turbo into the wall of an elementary school with .24 in his system. . .a few nights later, the flyers played the islanders in new york, and one of the new york fans was in the stands wearing a lindbergh jersey, and across the back where his name should be it read DEAD. . .now THAT was truly classless. . .i almost pissed my pants laughing when i saw it, though. . .new york fans are fucked-up. . .my sense of humor is a little fucked-up too, i suppose.

WTF does hockey have to do what I said? I can't stand hockey and couldn't care less about basketball either.

Another person brought up hockey...Now the argument about hockey players being THAT good to come in young and still OLD people playing just proves my point that there arent enough PRIME players to fill rosters, hockey argument done.

I have no problems with the chant, it was when they did it. I guess since lots of people are classless and LOTS of people act like douschebags, we should just accept it. *rolls eyes* "Hey look at us we did rude, ignorant things too, whats the big deal", great argument.

I guess being a FAN is an excuse to act like an asshole, not actually just be around to cheer and support your team...

Oh and about NASCAR, it has great ratings because all of the most uneducated of people can still understand "driving in a circle", hence why its so big in America.

I did hear what I'm assuming to be WVU fans yelling "Taysean Butler", possibly to drown out any negative cheering. The guy was playing his hardest and getting beat. Then to have a possible career ending injury would be enough to make any man cry. I hope he can have a surgery and be back in it for the NBA. There's no excuse for being a prick when a man is in pain and his dreams possibly shattered. I commend coach Huggins for going out on the court to console him. They would not have made it that far without Butler.

the old players are obviously the exception not the rule. it happens in every sport. jamie moyer is 47 and plays baseball. jordan played in his 40's. i just added it for novelty. you obviously don't watch hockey so you would have no idea about "prime" players. The average age for an NHL player is 28.66 as of a few years ago, I doubt it has changed much. You obviously hate hockey, good for you. But don't talk about what you don't know. There isn't a team in the league made up of "18 or 19" year olds.

personally, i can't stand the way most people act at professional and big-time college sporting events. . .i'd probably never take any of my kids to back to the 'burgh for a game of any kind. . .i'd spend a bunch of money and end up pissed off (or cuffed and stuffed) because we were unlucky enough to find ourselves sitting next to some foul-mouthed drunk(s). . .small town high school sporting events are pretty tame (from a fan's perspective) and pretty entertaining plus they give my kids some reasonably attainable goals.

I think Huggins handled that situation perfectly. His best player and one of the best players to ever play at WVU was down on the ground in agony. He knew he was never going to be playing another game for his college and on top of that, he has future aspirations to play in the NBA which could have ended. I'd cry too. I think that when Huggins was talking to Butler, he was also trying to fire up his team and ignite to fire in them. The relationship coaches have with players on their team can't really be described, and anyone who critisizes Bob Huggins for talking to his best player is a complete moron. I think it was a really powerful moment and if you know the first thing about Desean Butler, you know that he's a hell of a guy on and off the court.

I hope he gets better and plays in the NBA next year.

Ahhhh, good to see some people with brains and actual human emotions chiming in finally lol.

PS:
LOL at Jordan playing in his 40's, the "comeback" had to be the worst idea besides baseball that Jordan ever had...next to his hall of fame speech lol
