Building a new computer soon, experienced peeps let me know if this looks ok...

I'll get a Radeon card win the prices on the new one's drop to $200 or less a year from now. My 128 mb geforce is ok for now.

Anywho here is the part list a I cam up with (different case, was debating, and just got off the phone with a friend who offered a little advice)

http://www.hardcorecooling.us/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=670
case, cooling, powersource etc. $117.76

http://www.hardcorecooling.us/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=943
Liquid cooling system $139.99

http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts/details.asp?PRDCODE=CPIN-RP4530
Pentuim 4 3 gig processor $185

http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts/details.asp?PRDCODE=MBGA-8ANXPD
Giga-byte motherboard. $255

http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts/details.asp?PRDCODE=HDWD-I2000JB
western-digital 200 gig hard drive for use as a slave $115

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=85016-43
2 gig kit, ddr2 pc2-4200 (533 mhz). WIth either use one or 2 kits (depending on if I need 2 or 4 gigs of ram)
Price: $1319.75 or 1826.75 leaning towards the cheaper one since I do not think I need 4 gigs of ddr2.

Have other components more or less, to use (40 gig drive for primary, LCD flatscreen etc). Can overclock as necissary, and with the water cooling, probably will do so.

Dude, it is a HUGE, COLOSSAL waste to dump that much money into ram and not upgrade your graphics card.

why pentium , bro? how about the amd solution? fx-64 or whatever its called.

I have that setup with the gf4 as well... bump up to the best vid card money can buy... newer games will demand it. My gf4 gets lagged on ut2004

TRue... just noticed that a lot of the cards are not that bad. I'm probably going to just get an 80 gig slave set up for serial ata (wasting my motherboard if I don't go with serial ata), and step up to the fg 660. It looks affordable. Found zipzoomfly has the first case I that I looked at with a power source for only $59. They have several of my parts a little cheaper. Also going to get some heat sinks with fans for my ram.

BlkDragon and ZKaudio just confirmed what one friend of mine said about my card. One told me it would be fine for now, another said "No, you really need a better radeon or geforce for what you are trying to do...if you don't you are not taking full advantage of your components). Thanks guys.

Considering the 37 gig raptor 10,000 rpm serial ata for my primary, but is it worth the money? I have a 40 gig that I THINK is setup for serial ATA already(have to get back to my apt in colllege station to check it).

ZKaudio, I have a friend (luker on here by the username bbfsneighbor..LoL) who plays ut2004 a LOT. Do you find it to be a good game?

Here are a few suggestions:

Scrap the Pentium and get an A64 3500 .
MB: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Ram: OCZ pc3200 Plat. edition 1gb
Case: CM Praetorian
400w power supply
Montior: I'd go with a NEC, Samsung, Sony or Viewsonice (19)
HD: I've had great luck with my 2 hitachis

Good luck with the build and check out this site anandtech.com. The members over there are on top of all the new computer stuff.

Sites to buy from:
Newegg.com
Zipzoomfly.com

edit: I just looked at your last post and I'd say 2 gbs is overkill at this point but whatever makes ya happy.

ok i agree with most of what he said. definately amd you get your moneys worth for sure! monitors viewsonic or NEC are the best unless and LCD dell makes very nice LCD's also :) ram go with that OCZ or mushkin hi perf level 1 or 2. Make sure you psu is QUALITY or else the unstable power lines will zap the shit out of your components. SATA is a very underused feature that really speeds up games/OS .

dont go with the gagiabyte board my friends have built some with them and i found them to be overpriced and faulty. bad expeiences had to RMA a few. go with that boar dmentioned above ABIT. good luck bro :)

I already said my sister is giving me a free 19" Mutsubishi LCD from her office (she owns the company). No point in buying one.

Okay first off, what does it mean to 'overclock' it?

Second...this is depressing. My computer is four years old. $2300 or so when I bought it at 14. I saved up for the whole thing, 'cause my family sucks. :kaioken:

Pentium III 933 MHz
40 GB harddrive
17" monitor
32 mb GeForce nVidia Graphics Card
128 mb SDRAM

God damn...
