Using it for Photoshop type programs, net surfing, dvd burning, and porn (of course)

Scale to 1 to 5 how would you rate it for those needs listed above. I don't care to watch tv on it. I don't care to play games on it.

Some concerns :

1 - Regarding the HP Pocket Media Drive. Ok, is this feature worth it? I mean, I was told by the Tigerdirect salesman that no stores carry the drive. you have to order it directly from HP and it will not work on anything else but HP. So... what if the machine goes bad and you need to pull data from it?

2 - I tend to leave my PC on and running for days at a time. Will this little fellow overheat easily?

3 - they offer Windows Vista or downgrading to Windows XP. With 4g DDRAM, is there an advantage of one OS over the other? Remember I don't care about recording tv or watching movies or playing games or stuff like that. If going the Vista route, then 32 bit or 64 bit which is better based on my needs and desired use?

Pocket Media Drive is usb mountable so it should be good with any computer. Skip the entry level cpu and it should be fine.

It works, but if you want portable storage a usb flash drive is the way to go.

I think the downgrade to xp would be better, it's a much quick OS (uses far less ressources), is compatible with all the software you will need for your purposes and, most importantly if leaving it on for extended periods, is more stable then vista (less freezing)

2) I would not worry about it overheating. I have a small box I keep on 24/7 and it is just fine.

3) I have had problems with Vista. I just bought a laptop and removed Vista and use XP on all of my machines.

naw... quad won't help.. photo shop won't use the extra threading.. unless you are going to be running sql or some other server apps, no need for the quad..
