BigAndy...exactly how the hell are they gonna enforce the bid. Simply stating "I was drunk when I bid" in court would get you off the hook, if Ebay even bothered trying to enforce it.

no actually you can retract a bid, but only an hour or more before the auction closes.

they can't make you, i think you lose an "EBAY STAR"
or get a negative write up under your name.

i buy on there sometimes, the worst that can happen is they will kick you off ebay which doesn't happen for making false bids unless you do it all the time.
