i had surgery about 2 1/2 years ago..... i thought i was just slow healing or that i had tight tendons.. in my knee so i could not straighten it out all the way about10 degrees shy..... .. and i have been reading about the scar tissure under the knee cap. this has to be my problem.. what is the story with getting in removed... and it not comming back... ??? any info would be great and would like to know of a good sugeon in the KC area... i am so tired of this crap.... i miss heavy squats so bad..

I swear that is almost the exact same problem that I have. I had swelling in the knee and an inconclusive MRI so they never really determined what exactly I had going on. I could not straighten my leg to about the same degree as you and needless to say that in spite of a surgery I had in May of 04' I still continue to have this problem. I can't straighten my leg completely and it is especially obvious to me when I am standing for a long time and I rest my weight on it....it just feels stiff and weird, almost like there is something pulling on my kneecap and even like if there is some swelling or something. I had physical therapy that was so barbaric and torterous that if I had to do it all over again I would rather have physical limitations forever and it didn't even help!! The scar tissue (as I have heard it be called) are adhesions and that is precisely what I have in there and lord knows what else. I was told that another surgery (atleast in my case) would only be tempting fate as I could wind up worse and I was also told that I will not be able to do squats ever again but in my case they had determined that part of the reason why I even developed knee troubles in the first place is because I have thinner-then-avarage cartilege in my knees so there is less shock absortion when making those kinds of movements (squating, stair climbing etc)

I really wish I could straighten my leg too, but just thought I'd post to let you know your not alone...I am only 28 and I wish I could find some way to aleviate this so I won't have to deal with it forever!! Good luck on getting your knee better:)

PS> the only way that I have heard to break up the scar tissue- assuming you had it surgically removed is to try to stretch your leg and do the exercises that they tell you do do so that new scar tissue doesn't develop again.

i have been looking into prolotheropy... this seems to be promising..
it helps heal tendons and connective tissue.. ( i am afraid if i have surgery again that the scar tissue will come back..) I did rehab.. and all when i was doing it i tried and tried to straighten it... I thought i just needed to stretch it.. i did it everyday every night... but it was scar tissue... it is in the knee in the hinge.. that can not be good.. my right leg is like 2 inches bigger than my left..
I can run... or wake board.. or snow board .. nothing like i use to...
I have to get it fixed... you should look into the prolotheropy..
