My friends?? Believe it or not my spectrum is wide. I grew up in a hick town in southern Ohio of 1400 people total. Not too many koreans to say the least (understatement of the year) So I hung out with the country white boys who grew up with me and saw past my skin. I even have good friends who are very very country (not redneck--like prejudice) that I really love.
However, because I was a minority coming into my own, as I got into my teens (13,14) I began to hang out with the black kids that lived in my area. Why? Because they were very more accepting of me and my family than most of the white people around me. I grew up playing basketball and baseball adn through sports I became very good friends with blacks. Am I a whigger? No. Was I called that? Yes of course. But I knew who I was, a goofy korean kid from hickville, USA. Son of an immigrant.
Then I went away to college at a major university in Ohio (Miami) and met people from big cities, rich, white suburubs, and from all over the US. I became friends with people I never thought existed. the stoners, hippy types, athletes at my college, preppy rich kids from the suburbs.
Then I come home to my original crew.
My spectrum is wide, I have friends who are what you would call "thugs", I have friends you would call "preps" I have friends you call "stoners" or "hippies" and I have friends who are your typical "frat boy"
All in all I learned something and take something from all of them. Actually its valuable, because I've learned to relate and develop rapport with all types of people.
As long as they arent losers and dickheads heheehhe
