alcatraz pullup post

alcatraz put up a post asking for your reps on legit pullups. i looked at the 7 pages, and there wernt a lot of outstanding numbers.... compared to the crossfit athletes.
does this mean the way the crossfitters train, they get stronger than the bodybuilding way of training??looking at the videos and numbers lots of those athletes put up it double tripples and quads the folks here..
i know they kip, but 60 kips = 40 dead hangs.. ez... some dude did 100. some women do 50-60.
so, is their way of training better than the bodybuilding way?if weight is an issue, look at the videos of some of the 200# guys doing 30-40 pullups..
amazing the athletes over there at crosssfit.maybe that way of training is better that pure bodybuilding training.

if i wanted to be able to do a million pullups, id train for it, but i dont give a fuck, i just want a big back

as you stated, correlation would show that crossfit training is much better if you want to be able to do alot of pullup...:faint:
 
dude i had a girl that did crossfit tell me she could do like 50 pullups. then i saw that kipping shit and i was like wtf. then i said do dead hangs and she did like 10..

i can max out most lat pulldowns and row machines so im not worried about how many pullups i can do. im 235 lbs so that kinda works against the whole body weight thing. but if i grab one of those crossfit dudes im gonna be way stronger.

Just shortening the ROM a few inches and eliminating all momentum can make a giant difference in rep numbers.


Exactly! When i used to train at golds there was this weirdo who looked like Freddy Mercury that would do a bunch of fish floppin pullups with a 7-9" ROM.
