DUI's laws are made as complex as possible so DUI lawyers can mnake SHITLOADS of money. States make some money thru fines, but as you know - it's lawyers who rake upt he big bucks. $5000 for 15 mins of phone barganing with a DA to get you a plea bargain. Profits kick ass.

That and organizations that hold classes, sessions, online courses, etc. also make good money. Think of DUI's as a huge money making enterprise. It helps deaths from DUI's but the main focus is making money. So be prepared to open up your wallet!

btw: 0.89, try to get it thrown OUT. Never ever allow them to put your first DUI on record. You'll pay the price on your 2nd dui, where your aiblity to fight it, plea bargain is majorly affected. Always always always fight your first dui (public defender is a waste, since they'll never let you walk away without paying anyting - remember what I said about $$).

mandatory 1 year suspension, fines and 90% of the time, you still get the dui.

Not gonna argue that! and I'm not here to defend my actions, luckily i never hurt or killed anyone I sought out help, maybe a little late in life but I did it.

I refused to blow and spent 10K on a lawyer, took it all the way to trial, hired experts to testify, all kinds of shit. Eventually I was offered a deal by the prosecutor to get it reduced to "consumption of alcohol by a minor"

I still did the classes and all that shit prior the trial to make myself look better. Those classes are a joke. Pure money making scam.

Like Razor said, ALWAYS fight the first DUI with everything you've got. If you get number two, life gets real shitty, real quick.

My lawyer was able to get the judge to keep my license for work related driving during the 6 months my license was suspended.

That was worth a few G right there.

Yall are all acting like it's set in stone one way or the other according to which state your in. CO is this way, Cali is that way...... There are a few laws that the states mandate (even those can be skirted at times) but the rest is ALL up to the DA of that county. If you have one who likes to make pleas, you can work around alot of things. If you have a hardass, one that likes to stay with the state guidelines, they be hard to work with and will see that the breath intoxilizer is installed, liscense suspentions, the 1st time offender programs/ repeat offender programs are part of the deal, etc.etc.etc.
I have 14 years experience in TX, nothing is ever set in stone. Ever...
