Ack...Fuck Me...DUI

cuthroat

Banned
So I just recently moved to Cali. Long story short; I rarely drink but I went out tuesday with a girl and was driving her car back to her house which was like half a mile away and I managed to be pulled over for a headlight that was out and was arrested for a DUI. I blew a .089%. So appearantly DUI's are a big deal out here, I know I shouldn't have been driving but didn't think I was that intoxicated. Any advice as far as should I get a lawyer, no lawyer, plead guilty/not guilty etc? I'm not an alcoholic and it blows that the first time I drink in seven months results in something that sounds like will fuck my record for good. Advice?

so instead banging this hor you went to jail?

you drink, you drive, you lose

I guess if that's the way you want to paraphrase it yes. Passed all the field sobriety tests but blew a little to high =/ Jail was fucking hell there was blood, feces, puke everywhere - so crowded I was standing in place for the first six hours or so.

Well appearantly under the circumstances it can be considered a felony even on your first...mandatory six month license suspension, sr22 insurance when you do drive for 7 years, alcohol classes for 6 months. Sounds like it ends up costing you upward of 10k$ which blows. Plus I can't go without a DL for six months. Just sucks you would think that they would be a little easier on people for their first offense. It's not like I was endangering anyone either the speed limit from the bar to her house was 25MPH and I flew through the field sobriety manuevers - even the cops were suprised when I blew over.

Well shit thought there was a chance someone else would have been through the same shit but appearantly I am the only loser.

You definately need to get a lawyer. There is no way you should be without one. You will have to file SR22 insuance for a couple years no matter what probably but it will be way worse if you dont get a lawyer they will throw the book at you. But as far as big deal...it probably wont be with a good lawyer. Dont do it again, because it hurts way worse the second time. I've never had a DUI before, but I'm married to "that guy" who didnt learn his lesson after the first time. The second time hurts way worse, so learn your lesson this time. Good luck
