The success of an Ombudsmen(s) will be at the hands of the mods, quasi mod/admins and the admin and their ability to be honest and not make their own decisions in private via PM, email or in a place that the Ombudsmen is not aware of discussion being made as they have been for quite some time now.
I remember back in the day when there were only two mods that were hand picked by the real George that had banning power and when banning or other issues were discussed publicly on the original mod board for everyone to have the ability to express their point of view before a decision was made.
Seems to me that if people did what they should be doing and not what they want to - there wouldn't be a need for a quasi - mediator.

I haven't been one since feb (?), I chose to step down for my own reasons, it took a long time and an enormous amount of bitching and fighting to finally be let go (thank you again btw).
