LOS ANGELES -- For the second time in less than a week, police were sent to restore order at Jefferson High School after an outbreak of student violence Monday.
One student suffered a minor injury during Monday's disturbance at the school, located in the 1300 block of East 41st Street in South Los Angeles.
Paramedics sent to the campus at 1:19 p.m. took the victim to a hospital, said Jim Wells at the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Hilda Ramirez of the Los Angeles Unified School District said administrators were dismissing classes in small groups this afternoon as a security precaution.
Parents were being advised to meet students at the nearby Ross Snyder Park in the 1400 block of 41st Street, Ramirez said.
Last Thursday, a fight involving about 100 students at the school left three people with minor injuries.
Ramirez said Monday's fight involved fewer students but it was unclear how many
