Yes! IM Sore!

Lee

New member
thank god, im finally sore again. i was doing the usual 3 sets of 8 routine every workout day and overworking every muscle, but i didnt realize i was doing too much volume. well i switched to 5x5 monday, did back and bis, my back is stil a tad sore. did chest and tris tuesday, and my tris are still aching, and my chest is killin me. i love it, cant wait for legs today, gonna make sure i cant walk tommorow :D

Lee I'm glad to see you using the 5x5 it truly is a great routine. It's tough to start because it doesn't seem like your really working very hard but as you progress and the poundages increase, you really start to notice it. I know some people on here debate about whether soreness is a sign of anything but I feel that you do need to get good and sore to stimulate real growth, but you must give time to rest and recover in order to take advantage of that soreness. My buddy tried the 5x5 on chest day a week ago and thought it was gay until the next three days that he was sore as hell. I do chest on Monday and by Thursday my chest is starting to return to normal. My chest gets sore late at night the day I do chest, it's incredible. I do 5x5 straight bar curls for bi's as well and that is unbelievable for size and strength. I was scepticle about using 5x5 for bi's at first but it's amazing. Since Feb 1st, my arms have gone from 16.25 to 16.75, it's amazing. My arm workouts don't even seem that tough when I do them but the next three days prove the work did some good.

I have always been told that soreness isn't a sign that you hit it like you were suspose to do but damn, I hater lifting and not being sore the next couple days. Makes be feel better about my routine.

soreness is the sign of a good workour :D

The first week of working out, I got excruciatingly sore and I hated it. But now I love it and train to the point of soreness, call it masochism if you will :). I'm very disatisfied with my workout when I don't get soreness the next morning.

Sometimes you don't need to care whether its a good or a bad thing to be sore. It feels awesome and that's all that matters.

I say focus more on how you train and your strength levels than how sore you feel but you guys can do what you like.

i dont focus on being sore, but it sure lets ya know you worked yer ass off the day before.
