as some remember, i been tryina push 315 for 1 rep for quite some time.
no luck yet.

quite an accomplishment to be able to push 3 plates.. at least for me it is.

but last week i did 275x4 on the incline!!
so i'm 50/50 that i can manage 315x1 on the flat barbell.

workout is in one hour or 9a.m east coast time.
50mg efedrine already in the system.

i'm carbed up and ready for action..
feel thick as fuck!

315 i'm coming to get ya baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's possible, but I have a feeling you'll need a liftoff and spot....

I read this some were and it works for me do your warm up set them do two or three clap press ups(were you push up hard and fast so you can clap inbetween pushups) this will give you a bit xtra poke for your 1rep max

Don't do too much warmups and don't fret about it. Slap the weights on the bar and just do it.

Good luck, it's about time you landed that fish.

Think Mt. St. Helens bro....................................
Explode that bitch off your chest!

(hee hee hee)

:lmao:

That's my thinking also. You don't ask for luck to bench your max, either you feel confident to do it or you don't. Asking others for luck won't do shit when it comes to pushing weight off your chest. In fact, my thinking is, if you have to ask for luck most likely you have already psyched yourself out.

you seem to be plenty strong enough... get your mind right and explode.. i had the same barrier at 315, all in the mind.... get past there and watch out 350...

fuck yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did it for 2 reps CLEAN!!!

when i got to the gym, the efedrine was kicked in hardcore.
i was walkin around like a madman for a few minutes before i placed my towel on the bench.

warmed up with just the bar for 2 sets of about 20 reps.. get the joints ready for action.

now mind you the gym i work out at isnt hardcore.
at 215 pounds i'm out of the heaviest guys there.. pretty funny i must admit.
if a quadsweep or radar walked in there the place would be in shock.. lol

so when i loaded 3 plates, seemed like half the fags there were staring thinking "is this dude gonna seriously do this".

i had a spotter...
cool trainer there that always spots me on chest day.

i told him im a little scared..
he pumped me up saying i'm a piece of shit fag if i cant lift that for at least a rep.

with hands on the bar, i closed my eyes for about 20 seconds..
i was locked in and ready!!!

took the bar off the rests and right away knew i can squeeze 1 rep.
all the way down to my chest and clean up.. back flat all the way through.
didnt cheat at all!

ok i had 1 rep completed and i was done.. but not so fast.
i felt i had one more in me and surely another clean rep went up.

that was it.
i held the 2nd rep in the full contraction position for about 10 seconds and parked it.

today is one of the best days in my life!
im' so fukcin excited right now you have no idea!!!!!!

Congrats brother! Hell yeah! We all knew you could do it......determination goes a long way. Wish me luck soon, I'm gonna try to get back up to 275 soon. Peace out bro

You will do it. With a spot, I like to life with out collars so the plates make a slight clank with each rep. BTW: I am in my mid 40's and bench 314 x 4 (not working up to it. Simply a good warm up - then max out.) I don't do that ofter. I used to be a power lifter in college....

Anyway, rep that 315!!!!

Good luck!

i been battling this 315 for about 3 months now.
i was stuck at 275 for 2-3 reps.

so been training extra hard knowing that it wont come overnight.
today i had a REALLY good feeling about gettin that shit up.

and surely enough it went up!!

i'm so excited this is great!!!

Don't get so excited. Now 365 will loom large in your future. Next year you will be rasslin with that one. Enjoy this victory. Good job, Satchmo. Glad to see you finally got it.

Congrats bro...your first 3 plate experience is like loosing your virginity...something you never forget :)

I remember when i first started working out....i started with 20 lbs on each side....and still the bar was shaking so bad.... A few weeks later i felt like superman...and was an idiot....loaded up 2 plates....thank god i was training with an experienced bb who knew i wouldnt be able to do it....i tried even though he told me i would kill myself.....lifted the bar off...screamed...and it went straight down to my chest...lmfao.......i coudnt even control it on 1 rep down.......thankfully my partner grabed it and let me squeeze out of there.

Its a good feeling bro when you get up there. I dont like to do anything over 2.25 plates on the bench though. Its a killer for the shoulders...the movement is controled and gives no natural motion. I remember i was on a cycle and VERY strong.....trying to do about 4 reps very heavy......i fucked up my rotator cuff by trying to overextend.

Now i rather take a adjustable bench.....take some dumbells above 120 lbs and push it out if i feel crazy. Granted its not as much fun and is not as impresive for others to see...but then again i could give a rats ass about others.....what i care is about my rotator cuff health.

Good job my man!

First congrats!!

A bit of advice from an oldman.

20 years ago on a down set with 315 for 15, after working up to 505 for a single I blew my right pec. No surgery available back then. End of BB career!

Be careful! Remember always what your true goals are. I don't believe most of us want to be powerlifters. My advice, any set under 6 reps is too much of an injury risk.

Good luck!

Oldman.....was it you rotator or pec.....

I guess thru your experience you would advise us young guys not to go heavy on bench and do dumbells instead?

I am in full agreement. A couple of months ago, I had the ability to get 315 for 15, and really started to question my desire to go over 400 pounds on the bench press. An aching left shoulder now impedes my bodybuilding process on a daily basis. I am currently in the middle of a heavy cycle, and am seriously considering cutting it short due to the pain I'm in. Bottom line: Don't let your ego cloud your visions of actual goals.

Perfectly said.....
Sucks when your trainign with someone who is all ego though.....and lets you hear it for all workout that you dont want to go so heavy.

gj.

its not the weight, its the percieved effort and stress on the joints, if you can do 405 for 10 then you'll be less at risk of an injury than some dork maxing out with shitty form with 225...

dont let ego cloud your judgement but if you dont constantly chase poundages then chances are you'll never get any bigger, unless you're blessed with arnie-like genetics and an ability to grow from low intensity, high volume pumping workouts. I could probably bench 425 now, but I prefer to do reps with 365.. singles in upper body work are pointless unless you're a competitive athlete imo, the shoulder joint is just too fragile

Hey Satch how long has it been since you started your boogie cycle? When did you feel the Primo kicking in?

at 1g a week, it took about 3 weeks for the fulll affect.

I'm not sure, at my best I did 365 for 3 and 315 for 4 on incline. I'm pre-contest right now so I won't be setting any PR's any time soon.

would love to see some pics bro..
i hear you're a serious competitor..

I need to steal my dad's digital and get some pics on here. I'm about 7 weeks out right now. I haven't even started a diet yet. I'm afraid I will go flat because I'm already pretty lean. I'm doing 2 shows this summer. I will definitely get some pics from my shows on here. I hope I don't disappoint!

Good luck satch. Man you should be able to do it. Your stronger than me on the incline, but I hit 335x3 time monday on chest. What do you weight and how tall aer you? I'm 5'8 and weight 195 right now.

i usually do 2-3 very heavy bp sets with 3-5 reps per workout...but i warm up properly first

after that i drop it down 30lbs to get 6-8 reps

recently i had a similar issue with dumbell shoulder presses.....been trying to get 85lbs for awhile and last workout i managed to get 5 reps......each time i tried before i completely failed!! :)

great to see you busted your plateau :) determination goes a very long way

Shit!!! At least he can lift something! I went back to the gym for the first time in 2 months just this past Tuesday! Man!!! My tendonitis really fucked me up really good!! I couldn't lift or pull anything!!! My wife was doing more weight than me on everything! This shit sucks! 2 months of rest didn't heal this son of a bitch!

congrats bro. I would have liked to see a bit more of a warmup. Like why didint you hit 135 for 10, then 225 for 2-3? I think that would have much better prepared you for that weight, with a far lesser chance of injury.

Oh man, I just started benching 315 myself. The first time I started using 315 was about a month ago; It was a memorable event for two reasons. I just got back from Mexico, which is a 24 hour drive and I couldn't sleep because I wanted to test the dbol I just bought in Juarez. This was the first time I took anything and I just benched 305 for 3 the week before, so I was really anticipating benching 315, too. I benched 315 for 3 with ease and I'm sure it was all the 10 mg of dbol and 75 mg of ephedrine, lol!

this is how i did it.

warm up 10 reps of 135.
go straight to 205 and do 10 reps.
go to 225 and do 5 reps
go to 255 and do 5 reps
go to 275 and do 5 reps
go to 295 and do 3 reps
go to 305 and do 3 reps
go to 315 and do 3 reps.

it takes time, but you can do it. I actually hung around 275 for a while, but the trick is this:

135 x 10
205 x 10
225 x 10
275 x 5

then pyrimid back down to 245 and see how many you can do. I can nail out 10 now. then pyramid back to 225 and aim for 10. The secret to 315 is all in your triceps. You have to condition them for about 2-3 months with reps. go up and then come down, but the secret is in the reps at the beginning. if you can ge the above top 4 then the next time you come in

135 x 10
205 x 10
225 x 3
275 x 3
295 x 3
305 x 3
315 x 1-3

atleast that's how i did it :) and satch, i'm 5'8 and only 166lbs! but congrats on the 315...you are no longer a virgin.. muah hahahahahaha

Considering your size, that's good shit, Spare.

You should consider powerlifting.
