what would the difference be if I did high/medium intensity morning cardio?

What would be the difference if I were to do high intensity cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning as opposed to medium intensity?
Would I just be burning more muslce or more fat aswell?

I used to do 35 min. at about 65% max, now I'm doing HIIT on the elliptical and up around 75-80%max HR.......for 20 mins........only diff. I notice is I'm done FASTER and my appetite increases.........good cause I hate cardio.........also, losing some strength, maybe thats why, but I hate cardio for 30 mins +
