What are you taking in school?

Most really successful people I know don't have universtiy degrees. They just sat down and mapped out where they wanted to go in life...then the went out and did it.
Anyway, is the degree really necessary? I'm stating to believe that higher education is a total scam, unless you're going in to a degree-specific filed (medicine, engineering, etc).

I'm a dual major in nutritional science and psychology, and plan on getting my master's in clincal psychology. I plan on specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, and I can always fall back on being a dietician, since I will be a registered dietician as well, when I'm finished.

I have to agree, higher education isn't as important as the kind of person you are, if you are motivated and money-driven, you dont need a college degree as that just gives you the training, not the initiative. Although I still go to school (4th year this coming semester), I own my own business and do very well and I attribute almost none of my success to anything I learned in school. I'm only at school because my parents want me to be.

The unfortunate thing is that some jobs require it. It doesn't mean that the piece of paper is needed to do the job. Some people require a piece of paper as policy. You will lose opportunities just by not having one. I have one , now I need my second. Some people choose applicants with degrees or certification over experience

i agree with the post that said to do whatever it takes to stay in school this semester. get a loan from anywhere, sell something, borrow, do it on credit and then have a shitty semester slogging away with work/school/work/school/work/school

if you really really want to do it, you can...it just means sacrifice during semester

can you not get short term high interest loans somewhere until the paperwork for a student loan clears, and you can move your debt?

junior college in Cali is outrageously cheap, like $15/credit hour. Senior college are more expensive.

That's what I was going to suggest!

I went to Saddle Back for 2 years.
Nice Jr. College.

I am at a CC in the Bay Area right now, It's 18/credit, think it may be going to 21. I really don't pay attention since I have a tuition waiver.

It took forever, and some of my pain in the ass struggle is documented here, but once you get the ball rolling you can get a decent amount of cash coming in. Just for going to a CC right now I get the following...

Pellgrant - 4056 Excluding Summer, possibility to get a tad more then.
Free Tuition - Around 1500 Dollars.
Book Voucher - 275 a Semester, 200 for Summer.
SEOG Grant - 800 a year.

And right now I am filing for the Cal Grant B which if awarded has a maximum of 1551/Year.

Basically I am getting paid 5000 dollars a year to attend community college.

Leave stupid Texas and come to California.

Actually, scratch that. If I remember right you have to have residency for a year to get Financial aid anyways, so stay in stupid Texas.

DANCE.... Male dancers make so much more than female dancers. Whether your clients are women or men, does it really matter? You aren't there to fuck the clients, only to entertain and take their money with a smile and regardless of what any asshole sez, IT IS FUCKING HARD WORK. Nobody gives you a wad of money for nothing. It wears on you physically and emotionally.

It is just a job. Do it for now, dont get caught up in the bullshit and you will be ok. The only way I would advise against it is if you truly thought it would fuck with your head too much.

You would be doing it to be for your education. Fuck what anybody else would say or think.
