Vitamin C supplaments...who here takes em

Vit C is water soluble and whatever the system does not need (use) you urinate out.
Therefore Vit c is safe in high doses, but there is no reason for high doses. 1000 mg a day is enough.
I take it a few times a week only...too much gives me the "shlitzes"
 
Linus Pauling advocated taking gram quantities per day and he won two nobel prizes, not that it means he's smarter than the average gym rat on elite....:lmao:
 
dude if you take too much you just piss it out (literally.)

if you dont have enough (highly unlikely in modern diets) you mostly start to suffer in terms of wound healing and immunity

whatever it says on the back of hte pack is about right. i read several studies where they were giving people MASSIVE doses (ie 10g a day) to treat things like flu, and were seeing a reduction in sickness by half a day on an 11 day flu. ie...big deal

Vitamin C is an acid so my guess is constantly taking that much of it could possibly lead to an ulcer or throw off your stomach pH or something like that. It's water soluble though so you'll urinate most of it out. Minerals are not.

Do you honestly believe you can get 8g of vitamin C from food alone daily? Or anywhere near that? I doubt you need to add and 8g of vitamin C on top of what you already get from your diet. You'd probably be fine without any. So my guess is 1g a day should prove plenty beneficial.
 
If you are taking more than the recommended dose, you are probably just peeing your money away. The body can only absorb so much vitamin C.

I guess I will have to take it now that ppl told me I can't eat my fruit smoothies without getting fat...lol.
 
I buy the powdered form.

tastes like ass, but then I get a few grams in a day. haven't had a single cold/flu in 3 years since I started doing this
