Ultimate Fighter, Season 2

Interesting night of fights!

Well, my views:

1) I have to give Koshceck a bit more credit...is he a great grappler, and has class. I bet he was on fire inside after that loss. On a side note, if you watch close, he actually tries to tap out, but goes unconscious AS he's tapping. Drew got that rear naked choke on fast and tight.

Drew did a great job, looks like he gave %100 the whole 3 rounds. He got lucky with the knee (or was it just a tired kick?), and I hope he doesn't let it go to his head.

2) I have to give Leben a LOT more credit. I thought he'd get his ass handed to him by Dewees. Leben capitalized on the arm, and fast. So the guy does have ground skills after all---and forwardly admits he's still a brawler. Good on him!

Yeah, Josh was an animal... he has zero finishing skills though. Although, Drew is really good at defending submissions. If you look on Sherdog, Drew has beaten some quality opponents: Dennis Hallman, Dewees, and a few others. He has a lot of experience. I don't think he would get cocky from this victory.... he knows his game. As far as the rear naked, look at his record, he has rear naked choked a slew of his opponents.

It looks like Dewees was taking Leben lightly. He seemed to be manhandling Leben at first.

I think Jason is better off with Franlkin
I expect Rich has to give up a heavyweight now?
I have to ask did anyone else notice Seth even use his forward side at all?
I didn't see any real Jabs or lead kicks that I can recall
he's a good fighter but talk about favoring the Right Side
if he finds someone who can successfuly circle to his left side Seth will be in trouble

Ultimate Fight Night was good.
BTW, Matt Hughes is a punk-ass bitch. I used to support the guy, and I still think he's a world-class fighter, but as a coach/human, he sucks. I actually like the way he rode his guys and made them work for a higher standard, but the way he treated Jason was BS.

I can understand the way he rides his guys to make them mentally tough... but to offer no encouragement, and to openly disrespect his fighters is absolutely classless.

Koshcheck shot a fucking double leg from wayyyyyyy outside. Drew seen that shit coming from a mile away. Why the fuck would Koshcheck he set up some nice takedowns in the first two rounds and then shoot from the outside like that with 30 secs left?

Best way to shoot a double leg in MMA is to set it up with hand combinations. Get the guy to put his hands up by his head, or get him to trail you and then shoot for the legs right under his punches... Or you can drop into a double leg if you have him in a clinch with his back to the cage.... Koshcheck did not set up that last shot, he shot from the outside with no setup, there is the result.

Nice fucking knee by Drew. He didn't throw that knee straight forward like most guys would in that situation, he brought the hip across and leaned back like he was throwing a roundhouse. Good shit!

Speaking of PRIDE- this is what I have to say on the organization: You have NOT witnessed MMA till you have seen PRIDE. UFC has NOTHING on that organization.. the talent pool is NUTS. Order an event you will not regret it, I gurantee you. I saw PRIDE Bushido a few weeks ago, and godammn... thats all I can say.. goddamn. Those lightweights are NUTS. Takanori Gomi has got to be the toughest lightweight whose ever walked the planet, I SHIT YOU NOT.

I train with Drew and he has been working his stand up a lot! His ground game is very solid, but Koscheck is a strong boy. Drew said before the fight, that he was looking to clock him when he tried a take down and he did.

Hey, maybe he was lucky, but practice, training and experience create "luck."

Whats with Huges ? I lost a LOT of Respect for the guy with his noise about "Showboating" and whatnot . R was right , its cool when Huges runs a guy all across the Octagon to slam him , or when HIS team Showboats , but he got all whiney when his Opponents did it .

Some times fighters do this to get the guy on the ground near their corner. It makes it easier for you to hear your corner and harder for him to hear his. I'm not sure if this is why Huges does it, but it is pretty common practice among the more experienced guys.
